little black insects

yesterday i discovered little black bugs all over my leaves.. i noticed that they were draining the color out of the leaves..there was a white residue all over the leaves..I drenched the plant with neem oil and they are all dead today..they werent spider mites..

gnats?

that neem oil did the trick, give it another dose if they come back
