I'm an organic grower and recently noticed the benefits Of using Liquid Karma from Botainacare and Protekt by Dyna Gro .

Protekt is a silicone supplement that supports sturdy growth but it,s got 3% K in it .It says to use with any fert. to provide non-toxic prevenative protection.

Neither are listed as Organic in my catalog . My concerns are the synthetic k in the Protekt killing beneficials . The Liquid Karma seems to be from all natural sources .
Anybody else use either of these products in Organic production?

So Liquid Karma is'nt listed as organic but is included in the organic section of most supply stores. Here is the read on it .I know this is nothing new but its here for those who are not aware . I'm not concerned with the certified organic part of it . For me if it doesn't kill beneficials in the soil it is organic enough for me .

[FONT=verdana, helvetica, arial]The introduction of Liquid KarmaTM represents a major and significant breakthrough in plant nutrition. This is because Liquid KarmaTM contains a full complement of metabolically active organic compounds not found in regular plant foods or supplements. These unique compounds are absorbed immediately and act as regulatory signals, activators or catalysts to produce synchronized and accelerated growth under all conditions. Liquid KarmaTM functions as a growth engine because its high metabolic activity produces a large amount of energy which is immediately transformed to growth.

Biochemical Composition

Liquid KarmaTM contains seven (7) major groups of nutrients based on their specific effects on plant growth and development:

A. Fermented Compost Solution - prepared by exhaustive bacterial and enzymatic fermentation of fish meal, composted seabird guano, spirulina, sea kelp, and soybean meal. In order to enhance the fermentation process and obtain a product which contains the highest possible biological activity, the fermentation is carried out in different stages in the presence of humic acid, citric acid, raw sugar cane, complex carbohydrates, glucose fructose and over 72 trace elements. Fermented Compost Solution prepared in this manner is used by an increasing number of organic gardeners to obtain luxuriant vegetative growth, huge flowers and flavorful fruits and vegetables.

B. Amino Acids - Liquid Karma contains essential amino acids which are derived from casein hydrolysate and soybean protein hydrolysate. Amino acids are important plant nutrients because they serve as building blocks for structural proteins and enzymes. In addition, amino acids are also involved in the activation of transfer ribonucleic acids (t-RNAs) and DNA synthesis. The following amino acids derived from casein hydrolysate and soybean protein, are present in Liquid Karma: glycine, alanine, valine, leucine, isoleucine, serine, threonine, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, asparagine, glutamine, lysine, arginine, histidine, cysteine, cystine, methlonine, proline, phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan.

C. Vitamins - All of the vitamins used in this formulation are extremely beneficial for plant growth because they function as co-factors for enzymes involved in carbohydrate metabolism and the biosynthesis of macromolecules. Liquid KarmaTM contains significant amounts of riboflavin, thiamine, pyridoxine, and all of the other B-complex vitamins obtained from fermented yeast extracts.

D. Plant Extracts - Liquid KarmaTM also contains aqueous and ethanolic extracts of etiolated wheat seedlings and Zea mays. These extracts contain high levels of the plant hormones known as auxins and cytokinins. For successful plant micropropagation (tissue culture), the crucial requirements for an auxin and cytokinin are well documented in botanical literature. An example of the beneficial effects of using Liquid KarmaTM in tissue culture is shown in Figure 1.

E. Humic Acid - In addition to the ingredients indicated above, Liquid Karma contains optimal levels of humic acid derived from leonardite. This substance is known to stimulate the growth of roots, shoots and flowers, by maintaining the proper osmotic concentration in cells.

F. Seaweed Extract - Liquid KarmaTM also contains a high proportion of seaweed extract obtained from North Atlantic Kelp (Ascophyllum nodosum). Kelp extract contains metabolically active carbohydrates, complex carbohydrates, minerals such as cobalt, strontium and iodine, and growth substances that are known to be beneficial for plant growth.

G. Carbohydrates - Carbohydrates are included in Liquid KarmaTM because they are the direct or indirect precursors of virtually every metabolite. Their precense provides the added burst of energy required to assimilate and metabolize all of the other wonderful ingredients present in Liquid KarmaTM.

The seven nutrient groups used in the formation of Liquid KarmaTM act synergistically to produce optimal plant growth.

Benefits of Using Liquid KarmaTM

Extensive research and field trials indicate that Liquid KarmaTM produces beneficial results during every phase of plant growth. Starting with seed germination and following through to vegetative growth, budding and flowering, the continued use of Liquid KarmaTM ensures optimal plant growth at every stage. In addition, because of the presence of high concentrations of B-complex vitamins and plant hormones in Liquid KarmaTM, the product has been shown to be very effective in protecting plants from transplant shock, and in promoting the rooting of cuttings.

I want to know too. I was thinking of using both, and had the exact same question. Like could i add it to my tea either during brewing, or right before adding to plants. And would i still be considered organic? I dont think so, but maybe. I hope someone more knowledgeable than me answers.

Well from what I can tell so far the only reason Liquid Karma Isn't listed as organic mabey because of the fulvic and humic acids ? But these dont harm beneficials anyways from what I believe . I'm seeing now I should have got Silica BLast it has only .5 % k .Dude talked me into Pro Tekt because it has more silicone . Still digging to see if it's harmful to beneficials .

So to make a long story short ,that article is long but very informational , Potassium Silicate is not list as Organic ,but has great benefits when used in organic gardening .So it is okay for your soil beneficials based on the read there . It's not like we are trying to have true 100% organics ,not all of us anyways but the benefits of organics on all levels even if that means using non organic additives that are not harmful to soil beneficial bacteria to have stronger plants and heavier harvests . I have about a week in on using both of those along with my Liquid Organic nutrients. I am seeing faster growth ,healthier grow ,IE larger stalk and leaf stems ,the plants look overall better than before .

I have used Liquid Karma for 10 years most of them organic. My plants love the stuff. I use it to soak my jiffy 7's and feed my cuts till they are 6 weeks, I feed all my mom's and also for the first 2 weeks of flower. To cheap to use it all the way through flower.

Well Liquid Karma isn't OMRI certified. so its technically not organic, but it might just as well be. pro-tekt is not organic, and if you are running it with an organic line be sure to mix it with water first before adding to your other nutes due to the fact that it has a pH of over 11 so it instantly kills any organic material it comes n contact with.

I cannot provide much info but, I used Pura Vida grow and bloom with my first grow. Decent results, was happy with the quality of smoke. My 2nd grow i added liquid Karma to my lineup and all I can say is HOLY COW! My auto grew 1/3rd bigger than the first go round. I am doing 1 at a time in a tent with the same water/enviroment/lights. I follow the Pura Vida schedule. Which is feed water water. I add Liquid Karma to the feed and second water than just water on the third. repeat. The bottle of LK says use eveyr feeding but i like a good clean soak before feeding again. If you think I can answer any other questions, let me know!

I used to use ProteKt because it has the highest % of silica out of all the silica products my hydro store carries. When you look at the Association of American Plant Food Control Officials site (http://www.aapfco.org/metals.htm) and compare silica products, proteKt has the 2nd highest levels of heavy metals second only to grotek's pro silicate. I am doing a 100% organic grow this round (filtered water, organic ph adjusters) and proteKt will not cut it.

Rare Earth may not be OMRI listed, but its the most organic form of silica I can find. I feel comfortable using it, as much of a pain as it is to use. The 1.5lb box includes a filter bag to tea the minerals. 10 min with a circulator in HOT water, strain well after. It includes leonardite too so it adds humic acids while supplementing silica. Use it as a soil amendment when transplanting too. Its getting hard to come by, most stores will have stock lying around but buy it while you can because it is no longer being made.

What metal is listed as being high in PRotekt ? It only contains Silicone ,and Potassium Silicate ? If one of those is considered a metal ,neighter is harmful . 11 is a high ph but u only use 2.5 milimeters per gallon max . My liquid nutes affect my PH more than it does. I'm fertigating heavy now ,probaly will go to feed ,feed, water .

liquid karma is the only organic thing botanicare makes. Personally I like kelp meal more.

pro tekt is ok with organics. Potassium silicate is a mineral so its not organic nor inorganic. Amounts can be limited with organics.

AgSil is a better option than pro tekt. Its cheaper.

Might give AgSil a try, but you can never go wrong with protekt it's worth every penny. I've gotten so high that i accidently split my stems in 3 while supercropping and protekt just gets everything back together in 2-3 days... no harm done, like nothing happened.

Does AgSil effect ph as much as protekt?

How tolerant are plants to foliar spray ph swings? ~3.5 vit c to agsil 9+ the next day, would that cause problems?
