that's pretty cool, i'm using 400w mh... still vegging. i was just going to either get a 400w hps bulb for flowering, or spring for another dig ballast and go for a 600w hps, but now you're making me stop and think...I grow 100% MH. Look at the pics on my page. MH will produce high THC plants but HPS will produce more yeild. The best is both. CFL dont even compare to either. I personaly would never use CFL lights. They are good in heat sensitive places.
You can't beat MH for vegging so why bother with anything else if you already got a MH? I used cfls for vegging and want to get a MH and toss the cfls, and yes for me i prefer hps for flowering.major, but you used hps on your kush (which look great btw)... are you serious about the mh?
cloudflyer, obviously you have an amazing crop there... you use a multi-spectrum mh bulb... i don't know if mine is multi-spec or not, the box is somewhere (my laziness prohibits me from retrieving it)... it's an agrosun, i think... i dunno, the hydro guy said it was the best bulb he could give me. that would be kinda cool if i could stick to one bulb.
Ok here goes. MH is blue UV light (spring), HPS is orange with very little UV light (Mimics the harvest sun) The reason I use MH is because of the UV it puts out. One of the reasons marijuana produces trichombs and THC to protect itself from UV light. But there is a sacrafice, I wont yeild as much. I added the multi spectrum bulb to increase yeild. If you go HPS with a multi spectrum you will not be getting UV light just orange and blue spectrum. If you have a 400w MH right now I would suggest getting a 400HPS and run them together. The growzilla is a great duel bulb reflector. The second best option would be to get a 400 MH multispectrum bulb. why would mh produce higher thc? or is it that the same amount of tch is going to be produced by the plant either which way, and it can be spread out over smaller or bigger buds, depending upon whether or not you use mh or hps?
