Lights didn't go out

Ok so I have had em on a steady timer since I cut the clones.. putem in flower and everything was cool for the first 3.5 weeks. I did a little reorganizing (moved ballasts to remove heat from room) and when I set it all up again I didn't realize there was a switch on the timer making it STAY ON. So instead of going off it stayed on all night... for two straight days before I went into the basement for something when it should be dark... holy crap I am stressin out. This will be my 4th harv so I guess you learn stuff the hard way right....

Does anyone know what might happen? could this turn some hermie? are they justa little stressed? anyone ever done this before?...

I fixed the schedule back to normal... but I have to keep going for another 3 weeks or so...
PS. I will try to updatethis thread as I see whats happenning.

Should be fine I've done that a few times and everything was still ok they wont hermie that easily. I put my last crop through hell and back, Including tearing down my room and moving my plants 3 times in the middle of winter and they were still fine.

I did it before. My timer has a switch that says "On" or "Timer." I was in one night working in there and the lights turned off on me. I flipped the switch to "on," intending to quickly finish my work and make my exit. Well, long story short... I was high, and I forgotto flip the switch. lol Room full of all females 2 weeks into flower, and they got 36 hours straight of light! Whoops! Still all females now at 4 1/2 weeks, so it looks like it didnt mess em up too bad!

this is such a relief. I asked a personal friend yesterday as well and he agreed with what you all said. Thanks so much. I have returned them to their normal schedule. They don't even seem stressed either (no slowed growth noticed yet..) in fact I feel like leaving the lights on for a full 36 made em fatten up with all that energy... I always leave the lights on for 36 right before I cut em down to let em get as much growth as possible out of them. I will post pics when I am at home.

I love finding out by experience how resilient these girls are. (I tried to kill some by cutting em and I thought I would put em in water to look nice on my computer desk... little things took root in normal tap water. they just wanted to live. good times.)

Quick update months later... The light stayed on for 2 or 3 days, and a lot of the buds on it were a little stunted and definitely had some extra little leaves on it. Not too bad, still smoked great and not a big impact on crop but the buds were a little "wierd" and to someone who has grown the strain for quite a few seasons and can tell, everyone else still says its the shit. No seeds, no hermie, just a few extra little leaves poking out the sides.. Hope no-one freaks as much as I did. Oh and after the fatten from 72-96hrs they did kinda stop growing for 4 or 5 days from stress, diminishing harvest.

And you never get better without really learning from your mistakes. I've read the bible twice throughout and still learn more by actually seeing the leaves do something weird and have to look it up, next time I see it I don't have to look it up.

Good update! I can also update mine. I ended up getting 1 hermie, but I also messed up the lighting on more than one occasion by a few hours. My hermie didnt spread much pollen, and I only got 2 seeds out of the rest of the crop. Half pound total harvest.

And I already smoked it all. :(

Happy to read this thread! Had a timer malfunction 10 days in to flower and lights were on 36 hrs. Doing 6 different strains all new from seed so fingers crossed no hermits or seed in the final bud. Have seen light cycle malfunctions in other crops before and the finished bud was full of seed so I was freaked!

Wanna hear something insane? I tossed an auto WW out in the garden as it was looking shitty and I did not want to deal with it any more. I literally tore it out of the pot and through it behind some shrubs I have in the back. I came back to it 5 days later to actually throw it out in the trash and it looked marvelous laying there lol. All leaves were perfect again lol. When I tossed it out it looked like absolute shit. I repotted it because it looked so good I felt bad. Its now flowering out back just fine lol. It was literally laying there with all roots exposed and looked better 5 days later laying like that than it did in the pot, go figure. That was the day I said good bye to soil and hello coco.

We all get failures at some point , only thing I can offer is resist changing anything that may further cause stress...should be fine

Haha that is hilarious. Sometimes I think we treat them like princesses and they get used to being pampered. Truth is they are called “weed” for a reason .

I did just as you say, turned them off at the time I had been doing so before the malfunction (which is why they were on for 36hrs....I discovered the error at 24 hrs of light when I got home from work). They are now back to 12/12 and looking just fine. I think I have a couple hermits but that is due to genetics I suspect as we used seed from our crop that was full of seed. From what I understand, there is a risk a seed from a hermie plant will turn out to be hermie as well ....
Lots to learn!!!
