you probley seen me post these before and i was dead set on these lights.. Now i was going to get 2 of each e.g 2 bloom and 2 grow lights, iwas told to leave these on all the time until the 12 12 cycle but then still leave them all on for the 12 12 ..eBay.co.uk Shop - Planet Hydro: Lighting CFL Eco-Light Ecolite Envirolite 125w 200w: well the totall price of the light will be around £150 pounds abouts..And they will be totall wattage of 500w..

now my question is,, would i be better going for a differant light if iam willing to spend £150 and would i get a better deal and better results with OH what ya call them other lights is it hps? which type do you's advise?

And also would one of the grow lights from the above link be good for seedlings and clones instead?

Thanks again croniccrag

My opinion you will do better with hps then cfl's. Marijuana likes light and an hps puts out more light. The end product is the real answer and with an hps your buds will be much nicer if they have more light to form and grow with.

Those lights are shit. I've got one, and I don't even rate it for my clones. Good job I've got 2,400w in mh, and hps lamps.

Is there a trick to using hps...? meaning is there something I could learn? Apart from lumens per watt, different parts of spectrum etc, in what way would you treat hps differently from mh?

HID lightin needs heat management... EVERY 12 inches HID lighting looses 1/2 of its LUMENS ... MOST growers that keep their lights 20+ inches from the plant foilage migt as well be using Fluorescents... so many LUMENS are being wasted.. When AN HID light is kept close to the foliage (12 inches or less) the BUDS become HUGE and DENSE...

to keep the light this close requires propoer exhaust.. the heat needs to be pulled or blown away..

cheers...

Thanks Knowm. I don't use an exhaust, but I can keep my plants fairly close to the lights (12" and less). I do it by using fans... I also have glass panes covering the bulbs. Having the glass helps absorb a lot of the heat.

hello farmers...I am new to the growing world, and I have already made a few mistakes...can anyone help me to fix them=??

1) I had 5 seeds, I placed 3 of them in 3 pots, straight away, without using the wet towel germination method---I placed them 1cm below the surface, 18 hours have passed but obviously I cant see any changes.....DID I KILL THE SEEDS!?!?!??! I thought this was the original natural germination method :S .... if they are not dead...should I start giving light??? I have no sign to see if the seeds have sprouted or not.---

2) I placed the other two seeds on a wet towel in a plate, covered them with other wet towels and sealed everything with another plate...I think they should germinate...but I'm not sure... anyway... If they do germinate... Is a 400 Watt UV light ok to grow indoors??? I know UV rays are the ones who stimulate the plants to produce THC...but I wanted to know if I could grow using ONLY UV lights....I have a big room available and at the time being there is no need to use ventilation...(because I have no plants)...

please help... I NEED MY JOINTSSSSSSSS:cry:

If you are going to use 1 light... i'd say hps, and so would most everybody else. Better is to use blue through veg, and red through flower.

Ok here we go again! :)

MH lights are great for veg. HPS is great fo flowering. Color spectrums are important according to the grow stage (clones, veg. flowering). As I stated elsewhere on this forum, a friend of mine uses only HPS from start to finish and always has great results. So if one can only afford one light, it had better be a HPS since the flowering stage needs the red spectrum for fat and tight buds. This is what we want isn't it (fat and tight buds)?
