lighting

so i am here and i am very very new.

I just got some seeds of my friends plant and i read about all the normal stuff deep soil..and other stuff but i wanted to know about lighting. I know incandescent is bad but i am not gonna sell just provide for me and my friends sometimes so i was wondering about LED lights. I was wondering if i could use your normal like LED sticklight and use to grow my plant. Its not going to be big or anything. Just wondering or if anybody has a good cheap small light source tell me, thanks

Welcome to RIU bro!! I'm gonna help you get started with the basics for a nice, inexpensive, and simple grow which will provide you with a decent amount of weed

for you and ur friends How many plants do you wanna go with, I would recommend 1-4 plants for a beginner!

LED lights are NOT recommend because they arent as efficient as the other lights when growing
Lights:
For your grow I would recommend going with (4-5) 26w CFLS 6500k for 1 plant and during vegging you should get (6-7) 26w CFLS 2700k.

Soil and Medium:
Get 3 gallon pots for 1 plant. Buy some good soil, recommended would be foxfarm oceanforest, but if you cant get that get a good quality soil!
For nutrients go with foxfarm again, but if you cant get that get something with a 20-20-20, or 20-10-20, or 20-10-30, basically something with a higher
Nitrogen content for the beginning stage! Also get another bottle of nutrients with 10-30-20,10-15-10, 10-50-20, something with a higher Phosprus content!

Grow Area:
For the area you want to choose a good, ventalated area, get a fan or two,
make a carbon filter if nessessary to mask the smell,
and get your walls painted to flat-white or you could leave them,(Recommend to paint flat-white to reflect
as much light back)

hey thanks. yeah i had a question just out of the blue i have one of those fluorescent bulbs that look like soft serve and i was wondering if i had a 40 watt version that would give off 3000 lumens right? and thanks for the medium and nutrient help i am actually going to grow in a closet where i live...because of my parents. it is white and i know about the 12-13 hours of darkness. Would those lights work or do i need something stronger... it doesnt need to be good just mellow. So would those flourescant bulbs work

living with parents? good luck when that thing is flowering if your a newb... dont grow while living at home with parents..
