Lighting question?

I have 5 23 watt CFLs. I will only be growing 1 plant in a 1x1 area. The only issue is that they are all soft white bulbs, because the store I went to didn't have any cool whites. Is this okay for vegging?

I MIGHT have a 15 watt cool white fluorescent tube. I just have to find it. If I add this in, will the plants veg right?

I believe the ideal is 6500k daylight cfl's for veg. I have a few 2700k mixed in with my 6500k and the plants actually lean away from them. Try and get your hands on some. keep the ones you have now for when you flower though.:weed: have fun

yea, i would use 6500k daylight for vegging if you can. you should be able to pick those up at lowes or home depot.


you can also try, 1000bulbs.com or stealthhydro.com for more appropriate CFLs.

What if i use the soft white during the veg stage, but then I just put in some cool white incandescents? So I'll have cool white incandescent, soft white cfls, but no cool white cfls.

I can't order online, because I don't have a credit card. And the only store that I can actually get to doesn't have cool white cfls.

incandescants are essentially useless, too much heat and not very much useable light.
