can you run a 100watt bulb in a 400 watt transformer??

i have a 400 watt transformer Mh all in one the reflector and ballast together grow sun but I have a 100 watt Mh bulb it will fit the mogul socket but dont want to blow the bulb or burn up the transformer, can I use the bulb

ok thanks the bulb fit but i didnt want to plug it in till i was sure

yes they all use the same socket but much different ballasts

I have a similar question. I have a 600 w hps bulb and ballast. Can I use a 400 w bulb in the 600w ballast?
