Just my two cents as you see there is a wide range of opinions i run (2) 600 watt air cooled MH/HPS in a 9'x10' room 5'x5' grow area either 8 or 12 plants in bubble buckets and get massive colas 4" dia. 12 to 16" length depending on strain 3 to 7 oz. per plant. I use the two 600 because power where i live is very high and i get good area coverage. If your power is cheap and you can afford the intial investment i would go with a 1000 watt if not one or two 600 and grow eight plants instead of four as i am a medical user for pain and you can never have to much medicine or to strong, Good Luck

If your going hps def go 600 watt digi quantum. It has the dim feature as well as the "super lumens" feature. Ive put up my hps for now and use quantum T5 badboys. Less heat less electricity no ducting or fans for tubes air cooled hoods etc. better light spread. And so far above average results. Check out my grow in sig if you think im kidding. Id get a 8 bulber badboy imho.

Every1 has covered almost eveything you will need to know, you need to understand every grower has a favorite. for me its a 250w HPS with added blue spectrum that puts out a nice 33000 lumens

Thats a link to mine, I'm not sure where you are in the world but sunmaster bulbs truly are the way forward (in my biased opinion ) :bigjoint:

400 watt hps for vegging, 600 watt hps for flowering.

You always want better lighting during flowering.

Riddle and Drip: As if i needed more to confuse me LoL! I find both ideas very interesting, told the hubby I might need an extra day or 2. I dont know why he is so hyper now, I had to twist his arm to get the $60 I spent on this grow! All the reading from all of U saying basically "Great job 4 what u have to work with" and "Tell ur hubby to open up the wallet" really helped! HaHa!

Thanks Guys for EVERYTHING!

Depends how big of plants, if your gona veg for two months your gona want 400 watts. Better penetration. Id even go with 600 really but you can get away with 400. If you go sog style you may be able to slide w 250.

Sorry lady lol it has a feature to make it 600watts and 400 watts and it also has a super lumens feature to drive the ballast 10% harder I believe. And as far as the T5s the only ones ive found good for flower are the badboys. They put out more useable lumens than hps. Hps losses alot of lumens at distances you have to keep them to not fry your plants.

Look into the new Ceramic Metal Halide bulbs. They must be run with a 400 watt magnetic hps ballasts. But have been hearing great reviews about them. I am going to try one out. 1 bulb start to finish. And the color spectrum:cmhvshps.jpg speaks for itself. Plus Phillips did not market these a growlights. Which means a bit of a savings.
