Lighting question 1000 hps vs. 600 hps

Just wanted to get some educated opinions on lighting. I have a 12 x 6 ft space approx. 72 sq ft. I plan on putting three lights. Both to veg and flower. Any thoughts on which system would be better.
3 x 600 hps
Or
3 x 1000 hps
Opinions thoughts. Pros. Cons. ??any input appreciated.

Thankyou

With 600s you can get them closer to the top of the plants, making them more efficient. They are already more efficient than 1000s, with the added bonus that they don't get as hot, so you can put them closer.

You could always mix it up with 2 600s and 1 1000 for the middle of the room.

72 sq ft.... Roughly 270,000 vs 420,000 total lumens. Or, roughly, 3,750 lm/sq ft vs 5,833 lm/sq ft. Or, roughly, 1.56x the light, at 1.67x the watts, but it'll pay off.

What's the height? I think that'd be the largest factor here. If you have a tall, 8-10'(or better) room, go with 1000 and grow some sativas. :peace:

Why not get 4x600 instead of 3x1000? Shouldn't the extra $$ for 4x600 lamps pay off because of the extra lumens, superior distribution flexibility and reliability?

Thanksfor the help everyone. My thinking was along the same lines. But you do raise a good point about the 4 x 600

I was a fan of 600's but in another thread had alot of eye-opening. 1000's in general produce a denser bud. They also penetrate deeper into the canopy producing better colas instead of popcorn nugs. Just my 2 cents! Good luck and hope u start a journal once its up and running whatever u decide!!

^ I am only planning my very first grow and I (gladly) stand corrected. I was only speculating that 4x600 might be better because of lower wattage and similar lumens figure.

Penetration is a strange factor. I don't really understand the physics of it.
