LIGHTING HELP!!!

I purchased a 400watt cooltube digital ballast/reflector, it was a no name brand so I am worried about the bulbs popping. I want to just let it run for awhile and see what happends before going and setting up all my shit to have my fan chew up glass. I want to know if it is ok to run it in the cooltube even tho there is no cool air being ran thru it. I was just going to prop the cooltube up vertically and set it on the ground. I feel dumb for asking this but ive never had a cooltube before. I can't exactly remember but Im pretty sure my friend did this with his 1000watt quantum ballast cuz he couldnt set everything up and one day it just popped on him. Would that have just been becuz it was a 1000watt so it was just too hot? or becuz the bulb wasnt cleaned properly or was an old bulb?

Here is the light I purchased: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B008S4PWS0/ref=oh_details_o02_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

No. Your cooltube has a thermal protection device that will open the bulb circuit in the event of a fan failure.

I doubt blowing up a bulb will be an issue. ;)

I wouldn't set it on the ground, can you not hang it for now? You can run it without the ducting, but if you are worried about it popping you could just put a screen in your ducting. make sure you do not handle the bulb with your bare hands, the oil from your hands can cause problems.

Mayb this is involved with the more expensive cooltube reflectors, mine is just a glass tube with the bulb fixture, no fan inside of it. Im running filter to fan to cooltube exhausting.

The black insulated conductor from the socket goes to a small thermal interrupter mounted near the socket.
