Lighting help

I have $76 to spend on one new light. I've been doing some research and from what my situation is, a HPS light seems to be what I'm looking for. I've seen 100w HPS bulbs at Home Depot go for $30. Could someone please share what kind of HPS lights they have, where they got them, and how much they cost? Thanks!

Hps will be used for flowering stages, 100watter is pretty small one. How many plants will this be used on? If I were u.. go to wm\lowes/home d and get some 150watt cfls for like 10 bucks a pop no ballast needed. They come in 6500ks and 2700ks

I already have CFL's. I was wondering if I should consider buying a HPS or not to see if it would grow better

A hps u will need a ballast, a hood, and some ventalation. Nothin wrong with cfls if I were u I would start out with. 400watt hps. Don't waste ur money on a 100watter... 150watt cfls win vs 100watt hps all day in my book... cfls are cheaper built in ballast.. I wouldn't waste money on a 100watter invest in a 400/600 watter with a air cooled hood n balast..

In that price range CFL is your only option.

The ventilation alone for a HPS is going to run you at least $80. Not to mention most GOOD grow bulbs are going to run $50-$100 each then you still have the ballast and reflector to buy that will be another $250. So total a hps system will run at least $350 including the ventilation you need for it.

Sorry im sure thats not what you wanted to hear but to grow quality dank takes big $$$$ even for a small grow. If you dont want to wait till you got more saved up. You can get your feet wet using CFL's but dont expect huge buds.

Use a cool white bulb look on the box it should say 6500k or as close to that as you can find for veg. And a warm white 3500k or close to it for flower. Good luck!

Checkout craigslist, theres always good used lights going for cheap. Get yourself a 400w hps and u won't look back.

Craigslist! Start hunting, here in our area I find grow equipment all the time. Just scored a 600w HPS with an old style air cooled hood for a $100 bucks. I wouldn't go with a 100w, I started with a 250w and was able to deal with the temps w/o an air cooled hood
