Lighting Help

i would like to do a sea of green in my 2ft deep 6ft long and 6 ft tall room. the plan is to have eight 1ft pots in side by side so 4 by 2. and 8 plants in 2 by 2 area added a month later for a continous havest every 4-5weeks. then they would move to the big area 1 month into flowering so they can strech. my question is what lighting would be best for a 6x2 area. i was thinking maybe 2 250 hps but thats alot of plant for that. advise!!!

An area that small will need ventilation, heat build up will be a serious issue no matter the light source,in small areas like yours the ability to ventilate for heat extraction dictates the lighting type.

What are your plans to remove heat ?

a squearll cage with 270 cfl pulling through it and a circulating fan in there as well. would that be ok? how do you feel about 2 250watts being enough for the plants? i didnt want to use a 400watt because of the light being to directed below for 6x2

That will be fine as long as you mount it in the strategic area. An area that would be able tO pull air/heat from both lamps. With 250 HPS the is no need for a cool tube or anything so get or make some bat wing reflectors and make sure you fan is placed to draw heat from both bulbs or an unequivocal atmosphere would be in place

i flower in a 2x4 with a 400w and a 150. the 400has an air cooled hood with a 200cfm 4" fan.there are also 2 6" criculating fans one blows right on the 150. my temp range from 70-82. i am thinking of just getting a 600 instead. if i was you i would go with two 400 with that size and shape space, especially if you are gonna grow sog and pack the plants in there. i would daisy chain two 400s or get a double cool tube.

i see what ur sayin :P you dont think two 400s would be overkill for that small area?
(2x6) also (8 plants in the 2x4 1 month ahead)(8 in the 2x2 area for a month)sog
if not id like to get these for lighting.
`
two cool tube 400w for a good price.

and two of these 240cfm fans http://www.amazon.com/LED-Wholesalers-GYO2402-Hydroponic-Booster/dp/B003YFADW8/ref=pd_sim_ol_1
1 for ea. with different vents.
any options on the brands and whatnot?

get two 400s that way you can have two sets of plants in the same 2x6 space but they will be 1 month apart. because you will have two lights, you can change thee height to accommodate the difference in heights among the two sets of plants.

the fans you are looking at will not cut it dont waist your time with duct boosters. you need to move some air and that means an inline fan. something like this:
http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=4+inline+fan&hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=5291663036897221119&sa=X&ei=8K5KTougG8aksQLhp-2kCA&ved=0CJEBEPMCMAQ
or you could go with the 6" which is probably a better idea to get the bigger fan just ge a controller so you can turn it up and down.

I would honest;y recommend T5 fixtures for that space... would be perfect for any heat issues and T5's actually work quite well. I use T5's in my veg room and plants do superb. A 8 bulb or 10 bulb fixture will easily cover a 2x4 area and have about 60-70% less heat. I can fit 30 1 gal pots under a 10 bulb fixture.

im trying to get a max yield so i dont think the t5 would keep up with the 2 400watt hps's and its a 2x6 area. with good cooling i dont think the heat would be an issue.

you are getting on the right track here. with that setup you could easily pull some decent wieghts. t5s are great for veg but it is much harder to get good results in flower as they do not penetrate that well.

While T-5's are terrific for veg, they tend to not do as well in bloom. I would use two 400 watt HPs's. Get 6" air cooled hoods and daisy chain them. Where the air enters the first light, attach a section of 6" duct and run the other end up to the ceiling. This will allow you to use your inline light cooling fan as your ventilation, as well. The duct up to the ceiling pulls hotter air out of the room through the lights. Don't worry about that air being too hot for the lights...it's not

You will see a big improvement in bud size, node spacing, and density using 400's over 250's.

For this small of a grow, I would use a planting density of at least 2 plants per sq ft. In general, more smaller plants will out yield fewer larger plants.
