Good moring RIU.

Im getting ready to buy some equipment but need some help.

I have a small closet like room. Mesurments are roughly 3'W x 4'L x 4LW.

I need to know what my best option for lighting and ventilation would be.

Im not really wanting to spend a whole lot of money as this is a personal grow and will not be recovering any of my costs.

So what im looking for is a cost efficent, setup that i dont need to mess arround with once i have it dialed in.

Ill be back here arround 6pm tonight... gotta go to work. Yippy lol. So i will reply once im home.

Thank you all!

Have a great day!

You're looking for low upfront costs or low electrical consumption? A bit of both? Do you have a veg area as well or this closet is your total space?
I'd run 8 Bridgelux V22 LEDs on 2 passively cooled heatsinks. Pair that with an HLG 185 -700B and your light will cover 2 plants very well. Check out www.spacebuckets.com for a small veg area.
I set up a similar space and used a quiet bathroom fan as ventilation, pulling through an 80 dollar phresh filter. Works great and it's cheaper and quieter than a vortex. Not as much air flow, but with your 48 cubic feet, plenty.

Hey ty for replying. Early day due to the rain ha.

So my upfront cost (if possable) would be about $300. If i absolutly need to go a bit more i may. Long term electricty cost wouldbe nice to keep down if possable.

I was thinking about using it for veg and flower. As i can use the outside of the room for veg while the closet is in flower. (Its a man cave in the garage) so its just me goin in there.

Im stuck between LED or a HPS. My reason is i live in Canada and its an unheated garage. ( i will be putting a heating sorce in the man cave so thats not a huge issue) but if i can reduce the heat i use with lights it would be helpful.

I dont even know of its realistic for $300 range for what im asking.

I will look into those LEDs ty!

Hey @shhhmokey imo if your grow area (not sure if I'm reading your dimensions right) is only 4ft. high, then LED's are really your only choice to get the most out of your room height. Trying to run hps would be nice for the heat in the garage (winter only though, summer would be a bitch) but in a 4ft high room you'll be limited to really short plants. You could scrog and shit but still very limited height.

Agree with the COBs if you're going LED, only way to go. Only problem with LED's is you may end up having to heat through the winter.

I'd suggest to insulate the shit out of the box/grow area you're building, it'll help both in winter and summer.

Hey there. So really if inwant im able to have it 8 feet high. And if thats something that makes things a bit easyer its a possability. It is well insulated for what iv built this far. Im just trying to get my equipment be for i completly finnish it. This way im able to build it arriund my equipment better.

So really total size COULD be 4 x 4 x 8.

Yeah if you could go as high as 8ft that would be very helpful regardless of the equipment. your options then would be hps like a 600w, CMH 315w (equivalent to ~450-500w hps), or LED COBs. With the height you're able to dissipate heat better and not have to run short plants.

For further insulation and reflection in a single product, check out home depot (Canada) for this DuroFoam stuff, it's normal green/white on one side and mylar-like reflective surface on the other. I used it for my flower room walls and it's like $13/CAD for a 3/4" x 4' x 8' sheet.

If you made part of the room into a smaller room (cabinet) then you could veg in that and run your light cycles opposite so you'd always have a light on for heat in the winter. You'd have to make it light proof though, no light leaks into the flowering room...

That was an option but i will be able to use the room itself (in a corner) for veg. Thats np.

If i was to buy a set up tonight online what should it be znd where is the best place to order it?

I will make it 4x4x8. If i decide to in the future ill make another closet for veg.
Ill keep the veg in the room with me haha

Ok great! I was thinking 600w hps with a cool air hood? And i know the stuff! I will get that for sure!
Yeah, that DuroFoam is easy to work with and has great reflection, here's a pic of my current run. It's like a mirror from a foot away.

600 with a cool hood will fit well in there, not sure where the best place to buy those. I've been flowering with CMH and COBs, just about to add 300w of COBs in there to replace a CMH for the summer. Even with exchange and shipping I've found buying from US sites is typically cheaper than buying in Canada. I've used growershouse.com and bghydro.com for the Sun Systems CMH fixtures.
