Lighting for one plant. LED or CMH

Should I do two Bridgelux Vero 18 @ 4000K; CRI 80 @ 1400mA or spend a little extra cash and get a Philips CDO-TT 150 watt 828 (CRI 80; 2800K)?

I'm looking for a balance of good yield and potency. Temps are no issues. Which of the two options is best?

I would get the LED, that way you won't have to buy a replacement within the next decade, unless they make better LEDs and you want to upgrade, but you could still use the old one as a floodlight or something. Besides, nobody gets 1.5 grams per watt from any kind of bulb that I know of but they do from LEDs. Though LEDS put out similar lumens per watt, for some reason they just produce more weight per watt. It's one of the great mysteries of the world. Just don't look directly at it because it can cause retina damage from the blue light. Maybe get some of those blue blocker sunglasses or something.

Actually I don't know, because I just got a 200w cob highbay and it's very bright in the middle and less bright outward. Plus the heatsink is heavy as hell. Bugger weighs 15 lbs. Might be simpler just to use the MH. I can't really recommend one way or the other after all. Your call.

It starts out You want Vero18. Then ya see how good it works! You buy Vero29. Then CXB 3070 and CXB3590 after that.

grams per watt are completely irrelevant to me.

I already have the veros and I've flowered one plant under them before: not bad.

However I was wondering how would a 150watt Philips CMH do against ~84watt of Vero. The CMH has more red in it's spectrum and, well, the spectrum graph on their website is quite informative. It seems to me that they are quite evenly matched after the losses in reflection and what not... but I can't shake the feeling that the CMH will do better with a little more red, intensity, canopy penetration. BUT is it worth the extra cash?
