Lighting for Mothers and seedlings (Veg lighting)

Noob here (first post) - This site is great and I applaude all the experienced growers for sharing their knowledge and answering noob questions!!

I have built a veg and a grow room to the point I'm ready to buy lighting. I'm ready to buy lighting for my veg room (mothers, seedlings etc) and I need input. I have read everything from reg T8 fluorescents to 1000w hids.

I'm working with a 10' x 10' room but will be concentrating on a 4' x 6' table. I want to put more $$ into flowering lights so i'm looking to save on veg lights but I don't want to hurt my results.

Any suggestions?

For Vegg man, your best bet is a Metal Halide HID. However, if you are wanting to save money for your flowering lights, fluorescent lights will absolutely do the trick. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy the ones they have for the garage or what have you. You can buy a cord from there and wire it to plug right into the wall. Perfecto!

no no, better then that is 2x 400 watt cmh light , it does veg and flowering

and to his post, if your gonna buy a wire ( get a extension cord ) cut the female part off, and wire it from that side, Also dont forget to get some 16 gauge cord .

but stick with me, 400 watt cmh light ;) , covers 4x4 , so get 2 of them .

total for 1 , 240-340$

i currently use a 200w (actual) ECO CFL for my 2 mothers and a small 24w T5 for clones and seedlings.

Unless you need to mass produce clones then flouro's or high watt CFL's are all you need.

Less electric used still with good results.

Take small clones and SOG .
