Lighting ... 400 watts or 250 wats

Hey ... im new to this forum... and im sick of buying weed and wasting money .. and ESSPECIALLLYY loooking around for weed ... which is annoying as fuck ...
soo i i desided to grow weed ... iv done some research in the past 2 days ( about 6 hours of mad researching in total ) and i know the general method on how to do it ... (hydro not soil )


but the thing that messes me up is the lighting ...
alot of guide have diffenrt standereds for useing lights
example how far it is from the plant .. bla bla ..

also im not sure how much weed to grow and the lighing ...
im not a MAD smoker ... but iv been smooking for about .. 2- 3 years
and i wanna grow enough weed to support my habit (of smoking ) but not sell or anything .... how much weed plants should i plants ?

amd what kind of bulb should i use ( veg stage ... and flowering )



OFFTOPIC : ... i plann to grow weed because my dad bough me a house in Syria ( middle easter country, Under Turkey ) and im going to be moving there and will be growing there .. but i have a questions ..

you know those sites that sell seeds ? ... yea do they delivier to ANYWHERE in the world .. because i want to order them when i get there but not sure if they do delievers to syria ...

A couple things:

1. I would research the law regarding MJ in syria to make sure you don't get your dick cut off for growing pot.

2. If you've never grown, I would go with soil as it is more forgiving and requires less initial investment.

3. If you decide to grow, I would assess your space limitations in your future place and decide from there how much you want to grow.

and for the space thing .. ill be moving into a villa .. which is bassically a house on the beach ..

and im one person ... soooo a whole house to myself ... well lets just say i have ENOUUGH room too grow alot of weeedd

but i want to know how much weed plants i would need to grow to support my habit of smoking ... and that would mean about .. a spliff or 2 a day ..( 1-2 dimes a day )

I guess it depends on your spliffs, but is a quarter a month about right, or is it closer to a half? If that's the case, I would imagine half a dozen plants should be plenty ..

just check the internet alot of vendors send seeds anywhere! i use hempdepot myself because they are fast and ive always gotton my seeds!! good luck growin! it just seems the bud is better when u grow it yourself!! happy days

and as far as lighting goes you will get alot better results with a brighter light, so if u have the room a 1000 watt bulb would provide u with a stellar crop!!

1000W would be overkill for that size of grow. 400W would probably be plenty, 600W if you plan on expanding your growing later ...

okay thank you guys ... iv got errything planned out ...

i have a big closet ... but im willing to use a BIT of it ... to grow ONE plant ...
do you guys think that one plants will grow in like .. lets say ... a cardbord box ...
with one light effiecint bulb RIGHT on top of it ... and small holes at tjhe side of the box with a fan blowing air into the box..
u think the plant would survive ? .. i wanna do this as liek a test drive for this .. to get some experince in growing ..
what u guys think bou this ?...
i might start a new thread ... bout this ..

there are a billion CFL threads if you're planning on going that route. if you're talking HID there is no reason not to grow a few plants, especially considering you're going to get some males if you're going from seed.

CFL - compact fluorescent light - cheap, weak, and less efficient
HID - high intensity discharge, including HPS (High Pressure Sodium) and MH (Metal Halide) lamps. - undebatably the best types of lamps for efficiency and maximum yield. A bit more expensive.

Still stick with soil (quality) for first round or two.

pH is important in soil, and cirtical in hydro. Soil gives you a buffer zone. with hydro, all you have is the water and 'media' which has no value, its supposed to be neutral in all aspects, (holding water/nutes, etc)

Go soil. Take a few clones and experiment with hydro.

Once you got hydro down, then switch over for the run.


(people say soil gives better taste; Hydro faster; strength is the same between the 2)

As per the lighting, if you plan on staying with 2 plants, the 250 should be fine. (might, and a very might) need a light mover. 400W would be awesome.

One plant should give you 350g (or better maybe less. Depends on the the growing conditions and veg tie length)

Figure out how much you smoke in a month. Veg a plant and take clones. Flower the clones. 1/2 way through the clones flowering start new clones from momma.

Repeat
Enjoy.
Repeat as needed.

Sounds like you have space and not worried about the electric bill. (400W might be best)

Get the 400W if you think your needs might expand.

(and only as a passing item, thought all the mind altering substances were ultra taboo there (and the near by areas). No problem by me. Enjoy mother nature. Just curious of other cultures/customs.)

good advice, but I think 350g is closer to average per square meter, rather than per plant, unless you're growing monsters. 350g is more than 3/4lb. Maybe you missed a decimal point.

OOPS! Yup. Meant more like 20g per plant. (just shy of a oz, no?) And meant dry.

(But them 2.5 - 4 meter plants can be killers!!)

... and im gonna have plenty of room .. so
i guess 6-12 monster plants is more then enough for my habit ...

and recently i cut down alot b/c i wanted to see if i have controll over my smoking .. or the smoking has control over me
and yea .. iv cut down alot ..
soo if some how 6 - 12 monster plants dont seem to be enough .. i can still lower my ussage ... and yea
