Light to plant ratio ?

Hey guys im starting out my first grow i will be doing a ! plant grow to start with anyways, I plan on using 3 100 watt cfls putting out 6500k a peice and 1500 lumens a peice so total of 19500k and 4500 lumes, will this be enough for hopefully growing one nice yeilding plant? or should i add more? thanks guys

a few questions, one since i see you added the temperatures together which you dont do the color of the bulbs stay the same lol but are they True 100 watts or 100 watt equivalent? because 3 23W bulbs wouldn't be horrible but you would need more. if they really are 100W then your just fine 100W per plant is the minimum. do you have some bulbs for flowering?

Oh sry bout that lol, But they are the equivalent one's, so it wouldnt be a bad idea adding a few? And as far as flowering goes i was just gonna switch to 2700k bulds when the time comes. Any other advice?

So seeds literaly just popped a couple hours ago,SO excited half the battles over. Pics will be up later, i decided im going to stick with 3 reflective lamps but going to get the actual 100watt bulbs and these ones put out 6500k and 2500 lumens so deffinatly stepping up in total amount of lumens and ive decided im gonna go with a sunsystem 150w HPS for flowering stage. As far as nutriants go ill be using good old tomatoe fertilizer from walmart but going to intro it slowly and delute it (less than 1/4 strength for starts), but for flowering i have no idea what fertilizer to go with, any suggestions? thanks

yup add more, 100 true watts per plant. good plan 2700k for flowering. fox farm nutes work well in flowering. good luck

With all those floros running, your gonns be so close to a 4oow light, you might consider just forgoing the CFL's and just get a 4oo hps. those 100 actual watt CFL's arent exactly cheap. 3 of em and youll be pretty close to the price of a cheapy HPS. jus sumthin to think about....

thank you largarrettBLUNT ill check into those nutes, and i would like to run a hps of that magnatuide but ive herd they create so much heat and its prob gonna drain my cash to run fans to cool it down. Prob save a lil bit of cash too running the 150w hps for flowering only dont ya think?

well im not an expert but hps isnt cheap to run no. and cfls are pretty cheap if you look in the right places. you can get 69 watts from 3 cfls at walmart for 3 bucks....2700k. then the 6500k there are like 10 bucks for 3.

Ya those were the exact ones that i was looking at, an using a 400w hps would be nice but WAY more expensive and would cost me more to cool down my area as well, defentily gonna save some cash using the 150w for just the flowering stage. Also another question guys what do you think about supplementing CO2 into my grow, i mean its my first grow and ive been thinking about it, but is it that benificial? will it like boost my yeild or is it more along the lines of helping the plant adapt better and alow it to grow under sertian conditions? thanks

I was thinking of buying those tiny CO2 cartriges you see at walmart made for airsoft guns and popping one of them open in my grow area every couple of days or so, Does anyone know if this would work? I know im a newbie at this but i dont see why it wouldnt work

Ya that is very true but the fact that im growing in a 2x2x7 space it will most likely cause some serious heat problems and ultimatly cost me more to vent and cool it down (i live in arizona and summer is amoung us, its already 95+ degrees here everyday), and also 400w hps seems to be overkill to me, thats alot of lighting for just one plant (keep in mind that im focusing on a one plant grow) having said that i think a 150w hps will be a good fit for one nice plant to produce some pretty decent bud, idk i might be wrong though

ok, yeah given the space your working with. Id still run the 150 HPS, and use the CFL's as side/supplemental lighting. your still gonna need to provide fresh air and an exhaust tho.

I run 2 100w HPS with a 175w MH in a 19"x30"x6ft tall box. i have a 90 cfm bathroom fan sucking the heat out of the hood. I still have a small pc fan blowing in cool fresh air, and another 6" inline sucking heat out (cheapy from Homedepot). and it works awesomely....

jus a thought, but you might find that, a couple 2 bulb 4' T8 floros standing up vertically on the sides might give you all the side/supp lighting youll need. Grab a couple good bulbs for an even better lighting spectrum.

Go here for the best information on floro lighting : https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/358190-led-without-leds-my-first.html

Thanks man, im going to be using a pretty decent sized fan in there to cool it down and i think its gonna do an ok job at circulating the air as well but if not ill definatly look at home depot, How much did you pay for your 6" inline?

not sure around 30 bucks, i probly could have built something better tho seriously. I seen a thread somewhere with a regular cheap 8" fan from wallyworld, cut a piece of 8" metal duct in half stick it around the fan. if you get the right shit, it almost lines up perfectly.
