Light Length

From seed to flip how long should the lights be on for veg. Have a friend that is as new as me to indoor grows and he is running his light on 18-6 for veg. Plants grow fine but are tall and spindly. I have suggested a cycle of 14-10 for stronger structure of the main stalk and branches Thoughts.

No not the light cycles. Yes people try different schedules...but for a beginner, just stick to basics. 18/6 veg and of course 12/12 for bloom.

Spindly could be from height of light, low intensity, strain related or whatever...

But generally not light schedule...or that's my experience.

18/6 light cycle is perfect for veg.

Agreed J.D. Tall and spindly would typically be low light intensity or the light to canopy distance as opposed to lights on time.

What lighting and how far away from the canopy are said lights?

On there own 30 amp circuit
That's not what I asked. LED manufacturers are fond of stating watts as "replacement watts" meaning that it will replace a 1000w hid but may only pull 300 watts at the wall. How much actual electrical it draws is a good thing for you to know.
