Light Leaks for Veg

I completely understand you do not want light leaks for a flowering plant because it will stress it out but what is the worst that can happen with consistent 18/6 light in veg but during the 6 off some additional accidental natural light? I'm currently trying to setup a perpetual grow and am trying to use a small light to germinate/early veg/clone plants. The area is inside the back of my bar but the room that my bar is in has windows so when the light is off it will get secondary natural light. I guess if people think it's horrible I could always run my light 24-0 but I would rather cut the electricity cost on the light by 25% monthly by keeping it off. As soon as the plant is ready to flower it would go into my tent and then have a perfect 12/12 with no light leaks. Any help would be amazing! Thanks

Cool thanks...So as long as I consistently keep giving it 18 hours of light it should be fine? Will the same be true for a mother plant that is mature?

you're fine. Light leaks are more myth. Look at outdoor.. Stars , moon, city lights. Any Hermes is usually due to poor genetics and poor breeding selections.. I've always had some sort of light leak. It's pretty dang hard to.have 100% darkness in a home. I've never had a single issue. One veg room. Always gets indirect light leak a couple of hours each morn.

I agree, nothing to worry abt, what's it matter if it gets a little extra natural lighting, as you mentioned, wouldn't that be the same as 24/0? and I agree with hyroot, my plants are never in total darkness, there's always some form of light getting in and I've never seen any problems caused by that.

i agree, i have always interrupted plants to do a little bit of maintenance
light leaks are exaggerated imo as a cause of hermies
all the street lighting, etc the moon as you said, in my back garden its never fully dark like a grow room

for light leaks to cause issues, would have to be strong light repeated often

Agreed on the light leak thing, specially in veg. This year I had the unwanted opportunity to test it out in flowering with a little outdoor plant I brought home about 6 weeks into flowering. It was in a spot where it would get almost direct light if my neighbour threw his porch light on at the back of the house. He'd get drunk (heavy drinker, regular thing) and leave the light on all night, probably happened 10+ times before it finished, no problems. I wouldn't do it on purpose but that tells me the whole light leak thing, even in flowering is an urban myth, good excuse for other reasons/f'up's though

That's good to know...I just didn't know if that maybe if a plant was grown indoors it reacted differently to its environment with tolerance to light during its dark period.

I run my lights 24/0 during veg.

No I understand you can that's why I was asking if it mattered if I ran them 18/6 if it mattered about light leaks during that 6. I just needed to figure out if I needed to build a door for the space I have for my veg.
