light hours for a ruderalis-sativa?

i got 3 seeds, two have now sprouted. they are looking healthy and good.

they are supposed to be ruderalis-sativa, feminised. so they should be autoflowering

so my question is what is the best light period to give them ? should i just do 18/6 ?
thats what im thinking, just wanted a second opinion, because to me it doesnt seem liek a good idea to have 24 hour light period on them. which ive been doing, im sure it wont hurt them but you know. the healthier the better right?

18/6 is fine, like you suspect. 24 would be fine too, but there's some arguement about bang for buck beyond 18 hours. Good luck.

18-6 is normally the preferred method. it lets the plants rest a little bit. seeing you have fem seeds it doesnt really matter but in a standard grow, 18-6 provides a better female ratio that 24-0 which produces more males.

so beyond 18 hours might not produce as many buds?

right now they are small, about an inch maybe

No, I'm saying that perhaps the benefit of using 24 hours of light isn't quite worth the cost of running your light(s) an extra 6 hours each day, plus it gives the plants a break from the heat for a while. I would use 24 hours for rooting clones, but that's about it.

ah ok thanks man, yeah ive been using very little electricity in the rest of my house haha, turning off all lights and stuff. but im using cfls so it shouldnt be so bad.
