Light Height

I have all 12 of my plants crammed in a 3.5x5 area vegging. I have a 1000w mh light above 30" them. I am scared to drop it closer because I don't want the plants on the outside to loose out. I'm sure I am sitting too high right now though. My question is this. How high above my plants should I keep my light if the plants are sitting aprox 2x as wide as light? My goal is to have the outer plants not be neglected while keeping lights as close as possible.

30 inches, for a 1000 watt light is more than acceptable. if you can't get it closer with out loosing the light quality on the outer plants then leave it right where it is.

you have a lotta light for that size setup should be more than enough at 30in.. best result tho would be to rotate them

I'm all about a good rotation! How often? Every day? Will this help it bud better all around? Or should I let it flower to one side when I get done vegging? I'm all ears (eyes since I'm reading) if you want to school me. I'm really new at this. I was planning to super crop the taller ones to keep height differences manageable btw

Hey Smokey, a 1000w light in an average hood has acceptable light to 56"x56" so you are more than ok to spread them out a little. Try getting them in a 4.5"x4.5" pattern and you will be just fine. I have the Magnum XXXL hoods and we did a light test on them with a meter and got optimal lighting all the way out past 5x5. If you are still concerned just rotate the plants which are on the inside to the outside every 2-3 days and you'll be fine. Good luck.
