ok so i looked around and couldn't find the answer i needed.
so i just germinated my seeds, and was going to plant them in some fox farm. does the seed need light when i put it into soil? or do i just water until the leaves come out of the soil?

Ummm for me. When i sow them in the soil after germinating, i left the light on 18 on 6 off. In about 3+ days they will start emerging, however make sure you spray them each day, even when they havent pop out of the soil. I lost some sprouts because they dried up too quick.

They don't need light when under the soil but need it as soon as they emerge - so it is much easier to just have the lights on waiting for the seed to sprout.

You certainly don't need a million watt thermo-nuclear device - just a couple of CFLs will provide more than enough light for the first few weeks.
