Light distance for 600w hps aircooled hud

I've just got a aircooled hud for my 600w hps light wondering how far to have it in veg / flower ??? Thanks guys !..

You in veg or flower ?, it isn't hot when I do that and it's close like 10 inches maybe more but need the coverage because I have 2 big fuckers at the back lol

Im in Veg rn.. 8 seems really close to me?

According to that chart there seems to be a fairly large optimal range for the 600, so raising it is going to give you more coverage.. I would imagine 8 inches wouldn't cover my 3x3 tray...

That chart is for light intensity.. It dose not account for heat which will push you back and that light intensity may just be too much for plants.. I run from 12-18 depending upon how hardened the plants are too the light, my temps, and air movement between the hood and the canopy. Hope that helps

I agree, anything closer than 12 would be way too hot in my opinion!

Thanks! I think they are coming along nicely.. I just put in the LED yesterday, it giving me around 300w HPS equivalent and I'm adding LED side lighting today that should give me an extra 100w or so! Im stoked to what happens with the extra light

I do have insta but don't post grow pics for obvious reasons! :bigjoint:

Most people tell you to get the light has close has possible,But i disagree with this buy a light meter,you really want the light about 1 1/2 ft of the plant tops.

This gives you a far better arc and more coverage for the plant's after about week 5 of flowering higher the light,but only by a couple inch,because at this stage the plants will not really be growing height wise so stretching is not a problem,but i have never had a problem with plant stretching after week 5,so this gives ya more coverage.

A good tip is look for the boundry line on the wall,that is with a 600 hps or a 1000,i would have it about 1 ft if it was a 400 hps .When i first started i had a piece of fishing line with a nail tied on the end for weight set at 1 ft during the veg stage when plants are small,has they get bigger i go up to 1 1/2 ft.
