LIGHT COVERAGE

Just set up a new room and im curious about something, I ordered 2 maverick sun magnilume hoods that claim to have a 4x4 light foot print. Im going to be using two 600's. Im starting a room specifically for auto's. My question is can two 600w's cover a room thats 6x4? I'm going to cover the walls with mylar to use as much light as possible and im playing to have at least 18-24 autos in there. all in 5 gallon buckets. Is this possible? I measured the laying and i can fit 4 rows of 6 perfectly in a 6x4 area. Any advice? or is this even possible?

Definately possible. You will find that some autos will take off like crazy and others will lag. Something to do with genetics i think. so bigger ones will hog the light and others will grow slow. 2x600s will be mint in that size of area. You might do better and save money on seeds if you do less plants. especially in 5 gallon buckets.

Thanks for the quick response, I already have the seeds, i have 20x afghan kush ryder auto, 20x ak-49 auto and 20x Northern light auto. Seeds arent an issue i just need to know if this can be pulled off, i know that the afghan kush ryders can get pretty big though, ive grown in 3 gallon buckets and they were nice sized. ive never grown northern lights or ak-49 so i dont know how those will turn out. so i should do less plants and give them more space? I was hoping to pull off a pound of each lol. althought that may be kind of hard.

Hmmm...6X4 = 24, (@ 50W/sq ft) 24X50 = 1200. Yup :bigjoint:

I've never asked this before. Why autos?

Only because of the production rate, Ive completely had my grow room rebuilt, Ive had to start from scratch. I had a serious mite infestation due to a clone i got from a friend so i just threw everything out and cleaned everything with bleach and let the house sit freezing cold for a month. I recently went back in and cleaned once more and built a new room. I have t5's set up with new mothers but there only seedlings so it will be a white before i can cut clones and actually get a harvest from them so for now im doing autos because they grow so quickly, eventually i wont have a need for them.

autos because they grow so quickly
Thank you , I did not know that.

I just got rid of (hopefully) my spider mites, I was able to controll them with Safer's End All II, then the grls got too big to move to the bathroom for a spray down. Then I tried Doktor Doom, meh results.

Used Knock Down, haven't seen a mite since.

Good luck with your new grow.

Thank you! and yes autos grow very rapidly, some can go from seed to bud in as little as 60 days. bigger autos can take anywhere from 75 to 85 days which still isnt bad. some have decent yields to. but ill have to try that knock down if i ever run into another mite problem, hopefully i wont though mate. I wont be buying clones from anyone else.

you wont get a p a plant man sorry to say but there just isnt enough room if you run that many plants in there. i have been growing autos for a year now and the largest i got was in DWC and had two plants in a 4x8 and pulled 2 pounds. You will get weight with that many thats for sure but no where near a p each. more like 2 ps in the whole space. IF you dont stunt them early. water a little but frequently and you should be alright. when they get bigger water till runoff.. i would do 4 rows of 5 if you really want to run alot of plants. otherwise what i did was 6 per 4x4 area in 5 gallons. that woluld put you at around 9 plants in that area. DONT transplant if you can avoid it. start in a TALL pot as they have tap roots that grow straight down. usually once they bottom out they will flower. if you start them in a small pot they will bottom out and flower earlier then you want and hurt your yield. post a journal so we can follow once you get going

I'm not a complete noob, I know some things about autos and Ive grown them before from seed to harvest. I never transplant them, that's the first rule of thumb and im not expecting a pound per plant, that's absurd!! There not magical seeds lol.. All I was saying i was hoping to get at least a few pounds from all of the plants combined. so if i did 4 rows of 5 and 10 were afghan kush and 10 were ak49 i would be at least hoping for 2 pounds. thats what im saying.
