Light burn

The top of my plant was touching a 42W bulb (cfl) for about 10 hrs and now the part that has all the pistils sticking out of it is somewhat burnt and brown. I can't upload any pix until later today as I am writing from my cell phone.
Do plants normally recover from burns? Thanks
