When I write my congressmen and governor, I tend to use the constitutional rights argument. I throw in current events as well, such as the recent discovery of the 2700 corpse with 2 lbs, the 20 millionth arrest, etc.

I actually cheat and write the congressmen for 2 states, I live on the border, work in one state, live in another. Write often.

There's a lot of information on norml.org, mpp.org, etc, where you can pretty much cut and paste if you're lazy and don't want to write something out.

Btw, change.org is a new site designed to get more people involved and voice your support for specific causes, and ideas. After you register, click on Ideas at the top right, search for marijuana, and vote.

I have gotten responses with adding the fact that marijuana leads to less accidents than alcohol and if marijuana was legalized there would certainly be less people chronicly drinking which would result in less drunk driving accidents, abuse, violent crimes, etc. that are associated with alcohol use.
