I don't think anyone is suggesting we go around correcting each others posts. It is rude and unnecessary.

But to say no one cares about proper grammar is also rude and unnecessary. Many people care very much about the beauty of language and feel the proper use of grammar is a reflection of that beauty. Personally, I think that proper grammar can facilitate better understanding and it is better understanding that is important.

And as unfair and arbitrary as proper use of grammar may be, there is little doubt that most people, consciously or not, judge people on how they express themselves with grammar being a part of that whole.

But there is a deeper discussion going on here than transcends grammar and that topic is abstract communication may be the defining factor of our humanity. And when discussing difficult or obtuse subjects such as this, proper grammar becomes significantly more important since a small misunderstanding can seriously cloud the issue i.e. if you believe proper grammar improves the ability to comprehend what the writer or speaker is conveying. And I personally think it would be difficult to argue otherwise.

So I think we can agree in the "big picture" correct grammar for grammar's sake is not important. But I would urge you to consider that precise communication, especially for certain topics, is very important and if you don't know proper grammar, or at least the basics, you will be hard pressed to understand or participate in the discussion.

wtf is that? i've been seeing it a lot lately. things like that cause me to judge people.
Also "bitch" "faggot" "Homie" and anyone who recommends that one "get some".
We are judges. We make continual judgements, and on a forum such as this our presentation and pictures are all that can be judged.
I prefer poor spelling and grammar that make an interesting or witty point to good grammar that doesn't, but fuck me sideways I hate rascists and homophobes and white trash trying to be black.
I read what I have written before I press send. If I think it makes me look a cunt, I edit it. :peace:

Thank you very much. For some reason this piece has stuck with me even though i was not intending for it to be much. I write alot for my children, half the time my writing is off the wall but i enjoy it. I have thought about what you said and I do look foward to playing with that essay, but i also have alot of other writing. I write about being a woman who loves a man deeply and i love my family but I miss woman to an extent that few seem to understand, so it becomes the topic of some of my writing? I have a crazy story so someday i want to write a memior!

I agree, in fact, I find it easier to write a paper while being "high", being that idea's free flow, and the wording sounds concise and active.
I know where you're coming from. We used to play (in our band) our absolute best when we were stoned, or so we thought. We would always get into these beautiful jam sessions that seemed to last for hours. When we got finished we couldn't remember a lick of what we had just done yet it was etched in our minds that it sounded really great. so we decided to record our jam sessions (practices) so we could pick what we wanted and construct it into some serious tunes. After recording several hours of what we thought was really good jamming, we played it back. It sucked. No really, it sucked bigtime. We stank. Not only did we not practice when stoned, we never played again while stoned. I've written stuff down while stoned that seemed like a revelation from God. 6 hours later... OMG, where did that come from? LOL Sort of like getting in the kitchen while stoned. "Hmmmm... I bet some marshmallow cream on top of these sardines would be great!" "Probably better if I put them on garlic toast then dip it all in some chocolate fudge ice cream topping."

I am going to throw this out here... I believe that mostly every post I read, there are a multitude of errors, and I feel like I am getting dumber with each passing day. Not that it really matters, but it might to some people, I don't want to make the same mistakes, and start misspelling words that otherwise I would have known. So please people, have some consideration, and don't look like an idiot! It will do everyone a favor to use correct grammar.

I cant believe you would post some BS like that, who cares about grammar? Are you an English teacher or some shit?
