My camera phone isn't macro, or very good. So First I got a $14.99 Jewelers Loupe (fyi, its TERRIBLE & hard to focus)

I looked at magnifying glasses, lots of negative reviews. People say the 30x magnifying glasses are not actually 30x etc.

I looked at cheap USB microscopes, they all require software installed on your Windows PC, apparently they are all from the same company soooo (no thanks).

What do you use to sex your plants, check your trichomes & look for insects?
 
I have been using this dissecting scope. Its about 30 years old and still works fine. But I cant take photos with it............ or through it.

My microscope is one of the best investments I've made even though I rarely use it anymore. And no PC needed. Just downloaded the phone app, and plug the thing into my cell. Does awesome pics or videos.

The microscope plugs into your phone like thru the charging port eh? Which microscope is it, i might pick one up for photos, thnx @PadawanWarrior

Also might return this 30x JL & replace it with a 10x as a backup thnx @Billy the Mountain

I can barely see shit in those loupes. Mine plugs into my S7's port ya, and I just downloaded an app.

There's others that seem just as good though.

This one should work with Android phones, but check the compatibility first. If you need one for Iphone there's a newer one that's a bit more. If you get this one don't forget to click that coupon. It should be less than $25.


This is actually the one I have, but mine's only for Android devices too. Screw Apple, :p:lol:

Thats definitely the cheapest solution, haha. I should have pointed out my vision is slightly impaired, that's why i need a helper :p
 
It may not be cheap enough- but I am looking at something similar to this. .....

We often cant relate to something we cant see. resin and trich heads are where the action is, so I like to take a look. also mites and certain insects and mold operate on a different scale than we do. with magnification it helps me head off issues that would be harder to control if I waited until I could see more of it or more damage.............. you can I.D. the issue quicker

Any magnification will be better than nothing in the long run. I use that scope for many things and it doubles for helping to take splinters out of fingers also. I eyeball knife edges with it to pretty dang "sharp". Life w/o optics would leave me sadly lacking..................
