Lets talk about male plants.

Just my 2 cents. I think we've lost too much genetic material due to prohibition to not make an effort to preserve it. As far as the conversation of picking breeder males goes I would say it could be done. If i remember correctly The Skunkman did Skunk in 9 generations, although I believe he had thousands to select from. That was in the 70's though, I wonder how they would've did it knowing what we know today. Using exclusively fem seeds seems a risky move 10yrs out. I would suspect inbreeding depression would effect your lines down the road.

If you reverse a female and reverse a male and make seeds with them what do you get?
Can we do this with humans yet? I'm thinking how great humanity could be if we reversed females and bred humans with the specific traits we want in people. Oh...wait a minute... How do you pick the best male? Is a strong physique? A strong body odor? Or is it a sense of humor? Intelligence? Kindness? Weiner size? Depends what you want.
Sorcery. It is helpful to achieve a goal, but should you do something just because you can? Life is dynamic. We have messed a lot of nature up by thinking we are smart monkeys and can do it better.

The potcast has lots of conversations with cannabis breeders. They seem to say the early flowering males have more hemp (fiber producing growth machines) genetics and the later flowering males have more drug trait (psychoactive chemical producing) genetics. Frosty males produce frostier offspring. And that males pass on the structure of the plant.

I'm gonna have to tune into that. I used a very late flowering male in '17 to make 2 mystery crosses. Seemed the perfect example of a stout indica, made the cut due to how late it showed sex and by then it's better qualities were apparent so I saved it.
Furthermore, it seems that a common practice and belief is that males pass along flower duration. That being said, I wonder how many phenotypes we've lost that were carried by long flowering males that have traditionally been trashed. I find it hard to believe that males can be cut out of breeding without anything being lost by the wayside along with that sex chromosome

Breeding and the drug war lost a lot of genetic variance. If anyone is truly interested in opening genetic material up, you have to cross them all, or open pollinate. This plant is our best bet for survival. Has been for a long time. Everything you need, it can help provide. Psychoactiveness isn't the only thing this plant can do. Humans are short sighted. Nature isn't. It has too much to lose, and has seen this same shit over and over and over.

Truth be told, the science has a long way to come on this for us. I'd like to see if there are "paired Gene's". I have one of my ol mans crosses that has a smell I just dont care for, smoke is decent, bud structure outrageous and very drought resistant too boot. I've wondered if i can get the drought resistance and bud structure to come through in a cross without the smell, or maybe the Terps I dont like come with the drought resistance or that structure I liked
