lets talk about defoliation

first let talk about how Main-Lining works, you have 2 sets of fan leave and two shoots of equal size, top twice and do it again ect...

so the fan leave adjacent to a shoot work together

so by cutting or removing a fan leave the adjacent to a shoot it will slow its growth down or make the shoot stretch if there not enough light but at the same time what happens if a the fan leave is shaded or at the bottom of the plant and the fan leave don't get the light it needs

the shoot can stretch 6" or more and the shoot maybe getting near the top of the plant but the large fan leaf is still at the bottom or shaded so it going to work out very well

leaves need lots of light, airflow and water so by given each shoot the same amount of leaves by removing any excess leaves (defoliation) and shoots in early flower
you can give all the fan leaves extra, light, airflow and water, the shoots will grow even, stronger and full of bud in late flower.

here my organic soil garden :)

the leaves tend to keep growing in mid flower and the canopy may be thick but the shoots have stopped growing by then, so all the fan leaves will help to produce loads of bud

cutting leaves and defoliation plants is all about shaping the canopy, keeping plants short, having less leaves but more light, airflow and water for the fan leaves so the shoots grow thicker and stronger in turn the buds grow larger

well spaced large colas, and the plants are less than 2ft tall
