But my being a Mormon from a long line of Mormons leading back to Brigham Young doesn't count. Because I don't fit into your stereotype. There are buildings at BYU named after my family and I have several General Authorities as my progenitors. But your idea of what Mormons should be, trumps my lifetime of devotion to my family and my faith.

You clearly have no clue what you're talking about. Within the scriptures CALLED The Doctrine & Covenants resides The Word of Wisdom. If you read it, you would know that there are exceptions listed in the same verses that contain The Word of Wisdom. FOR MEDICINAL PURPOSES. I am a medical cannabis recipient in New Mexico. Which means, if you know our law, I have a legitimate need. We have one of the strictest programs in the nation. It requires documentation and a doctors permission (on a form, not a napkin like California). MEDICINAL PURPOSES. I'm not partaking of said Cannabis for recreation or due to an addiction. Which the Word of Wisdom is all about. Not allowing a substance to supersede your devotion to The Gospel.
Now do you need to know anything else about my faith (because I am well versed) or are you good for now? And Beardo.. The Church believes in free agency. Only members of The Church need to worry about following the guidelines of our faith. We do not believe in imposing our beliefs onto anyone else. The ban on gay marriage interferes with free agency. You cannot legislate morality. Not only is it unethical it's illegal. D.O.M.A., in my opinion, is unconstitutional. Therefore I support gay marriage because I support equality. The way I was raised.
