In my tropical weather you can get fantastic plants and luckily ganja is a very resilient and rather easy plant to grow ,its just weed after all .But you must understand a few elementary things like photoperiod and the right needs at the right time .Believe it or not but I like to grow during the rainy season in the moonsoon . Why ? Because I am a lazy sick old hippy who spend most of his life between Afghanistan and Nepal .Between the Hindu Kush and the Himalayas smoking shillum after shillum . The soil is then also so soft and easy to work .Plants love rain like crazy . during vegetation but even during flowering some rain is no problem. I love GSC but its buds get easily moldy and often in the morning I have to shake them because they are full of dew . I am full organic ,I use a lot of guano birds and bats ,chickens manure ,crab shells ,goat and cow manure ,fish , sea weed and so on .I have strong and very healthy plants .Tropics are full of very hungry sadistic parasites .But I still have a little problem from the red bloody mites .I spray them with a self made juice made from chilly and garlic filtered and mixed with water .I will feel my hands burning hours after...but no more parasites and the plant seems not to bother the spicy stuff at all ...Provided is sativa dominant ,I always get great harvest .They get so much sun that the flowering process is much quicker than indoor .I could grow pure indica but then I have to wait the dry season when Sun is scorching and soil hard like beton .It is possible but I am too lazy for this .
Over the years I have cumulated many adventures and knowledge about cannabis .From Ketama to Malana form Manali to Mustang ,from Kandahar ,lowgar,Tirah ,Mazar i Sharif,Bhadakshan ,Panshir ,from Tarah Kola to the Parvati valley .Those are the places I spent much of my youth at .This is history ,now that i am about 70 I just do gardening .And I am very healthy mentally and phisically .I still need strong plants with a lot of THC and all the good cannabis stuff in it .It eases the terrible pain I have sometimes usually in my chest ,well a bone problem probably related to humidity. If anyone has a question do not hesitate ...don't be shy ! Thanks for reading this long bla bla bla

Greetings @Ohm Shankar welcome to RIU! I have so many questions for you it's always an honor to speak to an old head like yourself who has so much knowledge and experience!

The first question is to tell us some good stories of the old days.

Next, How long have you been growing for?

What is your all time favorite strain?

Do you prefer smoking flower or hash?

What is your favorite place in the world of all of those places you described... both just for sightseeing and also for the cannabis culture of the region?

Any chance you can upload some photos of your plants? We love seeing grows from around the world, especially landrace genetics we have never seen before.

Last but not least, I have a suggestion for a strain you might try called Bogglegum that is indica leaning but is mold resistant. I just sent a pack of seeds to my friends in Jamaica. They were asking me to send them indica seeds but I had the same concerns. No point in growing super tight buds if they are just going to get mold.

The breeder is named B.O.G. (aka Bushy Old Grower). He does not have the notoriety that some of the currently famous breeders do, but he is a legend in his own right for Sour Bubble (which is found in Gorilla Glue and a few other now famous strains). The Sour Bubble is a pheno of his Bog Bubble strain, which he found by breeding some white label bubblegum. He crossed that Bog Bubble with the infamous Northern Lights #5 strain. That is Bogglegum. I don't think he ships out of the US, but there are some seed banks that carry his genetics.

I have been growing for about 15 years , my favorite strains are Gorilla glue and GSC but I have always liked hash and charas better .The country that produces the best hash is by far Afghanistan in this country resin is like wine in France each area produce its own type that has its own flavor and taste .My favorite is from Panshir ,lovely stuff very strong and so flowery .Then from Balkh near Mazar i Sharif has very oily and sticky hash not very flowery but spicy and strong that puts you quick asleep ... In the 80s in Nepal I smoked some charas from Mustang .During a few years there were Tibetans fighting Chineses invaders that were based in Mustang they made charas that I never got to see again .Nepal has incredible opportunity to grow fantastic dope .But since Nixon paid the King 40 millions dollars to stop cannabis business , the quality has been going down non stop .Then in India the most popular ever is the one from Malana a very small village very difficult to access and inhabited by untouchables, the lower Indian cast ,Very wonderful charas...But nowadays the quality has declined a lot due to excess of tourism.Lebanon and Morroco make wonderful stuff. But the origin of their seeds is always from Afghanistan and Pakistan in the tribal area ( in this part of Pakistan it is legal to have any quantity of opium and cannabis resin ) .My favorite sativas are strawberry cough and Sour Diesel .This season I was planning to create a hybrid of which the father would be a Strawberry sour diesel from Devils Harvest and pollinate feminized GG4 ,GSC and Gelato 33 .I ordered all these seeds from Linda seeds . But unfortunately none of the 10 regular expensive Strawberry diesel germinated they were all dead .All other cheap seeds from Linda seeds popped out .I feel badly cheated ,I told them but those vicious folks said I lie and that they never sell dead seeds .Disgusting...I am trying to find some shops who have these seeds that can send express to Cambodia but I can't find any ....I am not that motivated to grow the rest of the seeds ,my plan to create a hybrid that I want and really like and that can grow well here is a failure .These thieves kept my seeds and replaced it with dead ones ...I will eventually post some pics , but a bit later... I post this picture of me high up over a village called Tosh in Parvati valley in 1983 .Very nice wild plants growing all around ....

I visited cambodia in 2005. Smoked some pretty good weed in phnom penh. I'd love to go back and visit the countryside. We were there to visit angor and besides siem reab we only stayed for a few days at phnom penh and sihanoukville.

Wow some amazing history that you got to go all those places we can only dream about!

Strawberry Cough was one of the first proper strains that I learned/helped to grow. One of my friends got a cut @ 2000/2001 and grew that exclusively for a few years, and had his whole house full of it from top to bottom. Also one of my favorite ever strains!

Coincidentally I am growing a different strain from BOG right now that is very similar to the cross you wanted to make. It is called Sour Strawberry. It's his SourBubble x ((Strawberry Cough x Razz) x Sour Diesel). I popped 7 seeds and just took clones from the 3 female plants. Once they root I will flower them to try to find my keeper mom. I will send you updates once I have them flowering.

Cambodia is now suffering considerably due to lack of tourism because of the corona virus

Ohm,
I'm curious about the techniques used by 'commercial' growers in your region.
Can you answer or comment on the following?

When are the seeds sown?
How are they sown? Scattered, planted in rows etc
How often are the plants watered?
Are the plants fertilized?
When are they harvested?
How large are the plants at the time of harvest?
Do the growers save seed or obtain new ones each grow season?
Do they practice any selective breeding, i.e. do they use seeds from superior plants?

Cambodia is very tolerant toward cannabis and has a long tradition of growing weed, it was used extensively in cooking and also smoking .25 years ago it was still sold as a very cheap vegetable all over .Authorities know from childhood that the plant is totally harmless ,consequently punishments for growing or even selling are not as severe as they are in the neighbour countries .In the tropics you can grow any time but as I said recently ,all plants thrive during the rainy season ,the heat is also less severe and the ground so easy to work . Since I spent much of my life smoking the strongest cannabis on earth , the local sativa has no effect on me whatsoever ,but it does not mean is bad .Many like it .Its a pure land race from Cambodia .The sativa from Laos has broader leaves and is much better ,I like it a lot .Cambodians have no much knowledge about cannabis .Usually plants are very tall about 3 m. high and have a lot of seeds .Many in the countryside throw a few seeds near their house and will grow from 1 up to 3 plants . They will throw a few seeds as soon as they have harvested their plants .Seeds kept out of a fridge will die after 2 or 3 months .In this weather micro organism are very active...Cops will mind if you grow a plantation for business ,they are more relax if you grow just a few plants for your own use .There is a few westerners who grow indoor .There might be some that grow outdoor but I have not heard of any one ,outdoor is more challenging due to high humidity ,rodents and all sorts of voracious insects .I hate synthetic and artificial .I am in the full sun shine and full organic and get wonderful plants .Since Linda kept all my good seeds ,I have only their seeds to grow, I will keep on posting pictures on how they grow. Since Linda cheats I am not really sure of the genetic quality of their product .There is Gorilla glue ,GSC , gelato 33 ,Ice cream ,and Gorilla blue .Let's see how they grow and what will be the result who knows ....IMG_20200819_110206.jpgIMG_20200819_110206.jpgIMG_20200819_110206.jpgIMG_20200825_074635.jpgIMG_20200819_110206.jpgIMG_20200819_110206.jpgIMG_20200819_110206.jpgIMG_20200819_110206.jpgIMG_20200819_110206.jpgIMG_20200825_074635.jpgIMG_20200825_074635.jpgIMG_20200825_074635.jpgIMG_20200825_074635.jpgIMG_20200825_074635.jpgThe soil for young seedling is highly important ,there is all what the sprouts need at a small dose so none get burned ,I even add a bit of crab shell in powder ,so they start quick and strong .They love full sun at this stage they can already take it full power

IMG_20191125_094537.jpgWhere I grow its full guerrilla grow, with many remains from US and Communist bombs and mines of all types .But many snakes too ,Malaysian pit vipers have very nasty bites .Actually is the only snake I fear around .A cobra will always avoid you and go quickly opposite direction . But this snake seems not to care about you coming and won't move at all .So many step on it and get badly bitten .I have relocated quite a few far from my place .I do not kill no one not even ugly giant centipedes .In Cambodia they eat every things ,snakes ,dogs ,cats, spiders and so on .But what I find really sickening is all these kids shooting birds with their sling shots .

Around 1998 I was living for a year above an Afghan restaurant in Philadelphia, and I used to eat there almost daily. Amazing food and really nice people. They had a big framed picture on the wall that I realize now was of Ahmad Shah Masood. I just read the page about him on Wikipedia and it has the same photo. I never knew about him before now, thank u for sharing.
