Less is more?

How many think you get a better result doing less plants but vegged longer? A mate just got 6oz from 9 plants under a 600w. Don't see myself even getting 10. Have got more than that from autoflowers before. I'd laugh if I wasnt so fed up and pissed off. I'm gonna do a diary next so hopefully can get a few watching it and help me out. Am just wondering do most of you get better results from growing less plants but giving a longer veg? 5 girls under a 600w vegged to a fair size shouldn't be to hard to hit 3 per plant surely? Have even got it of an auto before. Strange thing is that auto didnt even grow that big just seemed to have the whole branches as long colas rather than little buds was crazy. Anyway be good to know what you all reckon.

Your yield under each light depends on what strain you're running, how healthy you keep your ladies, and how well you utilize your space.
The number of plants you have under your lights should only affect how long you veg for and what techniques to use to create a full, even canopy.
So in a sense, more is less, regarding veg time of course.

My mates looked healthy. Shocked he only got 6oz I've got more from my autos so I can't see how the fuck its happened. I don't even see myself getting 10 from 9 plants. This is under a 600w. Plants were looking fine better than other people's that I've seen. Pissed off big time.

well i average 2oz per plant in a closet 2'x3'... I can get 2 good sized plants under a 150w hps, total harvest 4oz ... but really it all depends on the environment and strain.
i feel plants need space to reach full potential if i cram to many under one light.... yield per plant seems to be less ....but then again i only use a 150 w and I veg til I get a bush before i start flowering.

I couldn't imagine vegging the plants any longer to get more as they seem quite bushy. Not struggling for room but defiantly wouldn't want them anymore bigger inside a 1.2 tent. Not done yet so will have to see what ill get but it ain't looking good to me.

How long are you flowering for?

There are very few strains that finish in 8 weeks of 12/12. Mainly due to the transition phase.

The transition phase or stretch can last for up to 3 weeks.

Once the plants make a full switch to flowering then you count your flowering time starting.

Air quality or air flow difference? Maybe his plants are getting more co2? temps or humidity could be different.. way to many variables to speculate...

I know too many differences and not just the same set up and strain mean the same yields but we have both got what I'd call poor yields. Not sure on mine yet but less than 10 from a 600w is a bad grow IMO. I have got more than that from when I grew autos which are known for bad yields. Thinking veg longer and do less plants will get me better results.

Some pics I took just now. Supposed to be a 6week strain my mates was finished at that time. Mine are week 5 this Saturday.
A 6 week strain????

Yours are 5 weeks since switching your lights to 12/12, or 5 weeks since they started flowering?

Like I mentioned when you switch your lighting to 12/12 they don't instantly begin to flower.

Your weights might not be where you would like them due to cutting early!

I pulled 17.65oz (dried/cured) from 3 KKSC, 2 LB and 2 PC plants in a 4x4x7 tent under a 600w system in 3 gallon pots. this cycle im running 2 of each strain in 5 gallon pots. this cycle, my plants are 1.5' taller than my last grow. the pic in my avatar is my last grow. it was a packed tent for sure. as is my current grow.

This weekend they will be week five of 12/12. I thought when you switch to 12/12 that's what they count as flowering time? I know it'll sound like its being cut early but it's supposed to be a 6 week strain. Honestly my mates was done at 6 weeks. I can only put his poor yield down to stretch but then mine havent stretched and I ain't looking to even hit 10 from what I can see.

No strain I've ever seen is ready at 6 weeks of 12/12.

They take at minimum 7 days to transition to full flowering putting your weeks at 4 of actual flowering.

Most of the pistils should be amber in colour and calyx's should look swollen.

I bet they haven't even began to swell and your cutting them down.

The pics you posted I would say have at least 3 weeks left.

So when people flip to 12/12 they don't count the first week? Always seen people right first day of 12/12 on their diary. How much will the yield increase by though? Is no way there is even 10oz on this grow and would rather get my next lot in going and count my losses than waste time sorta thing.

I count my days of 12/12 as soon as I switch my lighting.

HOWEVER I always add 10-14 days onto the flowering time.

The trouble with breeders recommended flowering times is that they give you the actual flowering weeks not including the transition phase.

Breeders also give earliest possible harvest date not allowing for ripening to where you want them.

I grew out critical+ by DINAFEM and it stated in the flowering time of 55days. Mine went to 64 days of 12/12.

With less veg time comes more of a transition phase "stretch" to deal with. The longer transition takes the more time you have to add on to the flowering time if counting from switching your plants to 12/12.

I've seen my biggest increases on weight between weeks6-8 of 12/12. After this on 8-9 week flower times is just the ripening process.

It isn't by chance than I achieve over 400g of dry herb from a little 400w.

Sounds good to me mate :). How did you find your critical + in terms of taste and yield did she live upto her name? I have one which I'm putting onto 12/12 today along side another girl. Both of these are big and bushy been vegged longer than I ever planned. Only doing them both under a 250w but would like to hit 2 from each. Gotta feeling I may struggle with space in my little tent but that's my fault. Only just sorted a place my young blue cheese can go.

eta: planning to downsize soon sounds crazy but rather be able to have a tent vegging and another tent flowering so just gotta rotate and works better for my bedroom. Will be a 400w was planning 4 girls under it in 11litre pots and hoping for whatever lol 3 would be a dream.

Check my signature link thread.

I got 112g of dry smoke from a 6 week veg and 64 days of 12/12.
