Length of morning sun?

How many hours of morning sun should my plant receive continuously? It grew really tall and I had to move it back in the bushes further and now it gets about 2.5 hrs of morning sun and 1.5 hrs of late evening sun. It was getting the first 5 hrs of the day directly before the height issue. Will this change anything.
In addition, what type of pest control should I use?

if size is an issue try lst'ing. I don't think light depravation is a good strategy.
