Lemon Seeds

Has anyone had any luck with germinating lemon seeds? Which way did you accomplish this task? I've tried it two ways, so far. The tried and true wet paper towel method, and I just planted a few right in the soil. It's been two weeks now, and no sprouts from either method. I took the seeds from organic lemons -- is there a chance that even the organic lemons were hybridized? Would it matter if so? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :peace::peace:

it could be a problem with the lemon, hybridization or whatevere. have you tryed drying them first? have you tryed scuffing them? i always dry mine first then scuff them but iv never tryed growing lemons. maybe seeds from food lemons wont germinate because they are picked early for taste or something?

Thank you! I've scuffed some, dried some, cleaned some, and now they're all in the paper towel and chillin like a villain. We'll see what happens. I never hoped to get lemons, I've just heard they make great houseplants with citrus-y smelling leaves. Sounds good to moi.

Yes.. this is true, but he posted this in the Gardening forum. Probably because it's actually the citrus tree, lemon.

Ravioli, my grandparents are able to take seeds of all sorts and make the damn things grow. Their garden in on the roof of the adjacent building and they use things like old washing machine tubs to grow trees, and they do get fruit from the trees. They're in Puerto Rico, pretty easy to grow almost anything that can tolerate no cold. :)

Oh, wow! How nice it would be to live in such a climate!! Unfortunately, I live in a very rainy city, with trees everywhere and nothing truely gets enough sunlight. Though I found a nice sunny spot to put the pot with the seed I just dropped into the soil, I can't see any progress as of yet. However, the seeds I had in the paper towel, the "scuffed and washed" seeds, sprouted early morning last Thursday, making it 2 weeks and 4 days since I put them in the paper towel. I dropped two of them in a nice 10" pot and threw it into my cloner. Nothing has broken soil, but I'm being very hopeful! Thank you for your reply!!

I'm sorry all for the confusion on whether or not it was a strain of marijuana, but sadly, it is not. My cheap ass isn't gonna go buy seeds ;)

Aww, bummer! Well, when life gives you lemons, grow lemon trees, right? :hump:

Four months though? Damn. That's like, forever. ;)
