Increasing economical downturn is affecting most countries in the world, three of these, The UK, US and Australia have a very high proportion of weed smokers yet it is illegal even though alcohol related problems far far outweigh the negativity of smoking pot.
Now if it was controlled and taxed appropriately, following guidelines and laws already in place for alcohol and obviously altering them lightly then surely legalising it would give the economies a biig boost and move the money into the main market and take it out of the black market.
Marijauana is seen as a gateway drug wrongly, its only usually the case when bad dealers dont have any or want to push other stuff, this would take out the dealers from that equation, Also as Marijuana is hemp related surely a secondary business could come from the wasted fibres after buds are trimmed and cured thus boosting economies a bit more as well as reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere whilst its growing in nice big fields.
Just a thought I had, I may be worng, I may be right! discuss.
