i was wondering if somebody ordered seeds, and customs got a hold of them, what kind of trouble would that person be in?

I don't worry about any of that stuff, you're ordering from another country so their records are not likely to ever be compromised by US interests.
In other words your info is pretty safe.
Besides you're small potatoes, nobody is going to track you down or care so I would have no trouble just ordering seeds to my own house on a regular credit card in my own name.
D whatever makes you feel comfortable though. Don't buy from the same place though, ask for replacements from the original company. Some do that and some don't. But also order more from somewhere else, to make sure you do end up with something at least.

Yeah, like BigBudBalls said... You can't get in to trouble for something that was 'sent' to you... UNLESS, you admit to ordering them or it can be proven that you ordered them. If it does come down to it (which I've never heard of), blame it on a pissed off ex, "that bitch is always trying to get me in to trouble".
I've spent the last two weeks going through exactly the same thing you are. This is what I've come up with...
Would someone with experience give an up or down on this?
Purchase a prepaid credit card with cash only or an international money order from the post office or bank again with cash only.
Place your order either online via a proxy service like (TOR) or through the mail with that pink international money order from a mail drop box on the other side of town.
As for the name thing, when we moved in to our new place, the post man made a point of asking what names to deliver for at this address. Your's might not be as 'by the book' as mine is... He was an old-timer anyway. Some people I've heard of use Disney names (M. Mouse, D. Duck and so on). With my luck, my mail dude would send them to Orlando without thinking twice. I was just going to use "The _______ Family".
As my own C.Y.A. plan, I'm waiting until my bag-seed grow is over and there are no plants before ordering. Should my luck turn for the worse, I'd like to be able to laugh if there's a knock at the door after showing them a 'grow room' that has a dozen different kinds of herbs growing (the food kind).
Those are just my thoughts, and again, I'm not speaking from experience at this point.

...and about the herb plants. That's was suggested to me as a very cheap insurance plan should the cat get out of the bag, so to speak. It's a lot easier to pass off "Old Mrs. Jones across the street was mistaken about the plants she did see" than it would be to be on the defensive with "plants, what plants? No you can't nose around". Make'em feel as if Mrs. Jones has waisted their time and made them look foolish, they'll keep that in mind the next time she calls. She'll quickly turn in to 'that crazy old cat-lady'.

I don't suggest this at all ... because I'm as paranoid as they come!
But, you could send them to a safe location... Friends house, PO Box and so on.
By going that route, you have to weigh how your friends or whoever it is that stuffs the PO Box would deal with a worse case situation as compared to how you would deal with it.
I came up with this idea while I was out (driving time is good thinking time) and it's a sneaky one. Find out what the average delivery time for your location is from your seed-bank, order away, and when it gets close, take a trip out of town and have a neighbor collect your mail while you're gone.
However you go about it, just remember, no matter what the cops may say about something like this, as long as you have Plausible denial ability, you'll be in the clear.
But, more to the point, like most of the responses to this post and many posts like it... I think us first timers are getting worked up over nothing.

i was sent seeds by doc chronics to indiana..not all states are like this...us customs sent them to the indiana state police..the police showed up my door with a drug dog..they said the drug dog alerted at my home..search warrent was issued and cops came in and found ALMOST nothing and certainly no plants..so...it depends on your state and how they have it set up with US customs..being raided is not fun....im not telling you this to make you all noid about shit..but you need to know other;s experience ..i was raided..me and my wife spent the night in jail over two joints and so far our out of pocket expence is around 5000 ....just imagine what it would be if they had found something?..i guess there just isnt enough meth labs and crack dealers to chase in indiana..they have to chase a few beans being mailed...WTF? where is george washington when you need him most..
