i'm growing with a 1000 watt MH. i picked up another 600 watts of cfl lighting yesterday and threw them in there...forgetting to hook them up to the timer...
so the cfl's have been on during today's dark period...
i know that is a giant no-no during flowering, but i'm not sure how terrible this is during veg. anyone?

One day probably won't harm anything. This kind of thing happens to a lot of growers.

The dark period is important during flowering because that is what causes the production of the enzyme that tells the plant to grow buds.
During veg the main reason for a dark period is that there is little to be gained by not having one. I've tested 18/6 vs 24/0 and found that overall, the growth was pretty even, above and below the soil, and the yield was about the same when it came to harvest time.
Therefore, I reason that the best reason to turn the lights off for 6 hours is to save the planet (and reduce your electricity bill as a useful side effect).

umm yeah : you can veg under 24/0 as long as you want.
like Hairy bob sayd, you only use 18/6 to save some leccy

This would have been a prob during flowering, but during veg there should be no adverse effects.

Shit happens. I think we forget how bright the moon can be some nights and plenty of outdoor crops turn out just fine.
