Lees than 10% male flowers.. Not a hermie

Just got an email back from a breeder i've been using for a while now.. I contacted them about 1 of their new strains that hermied.. Their response was, if it is less than 10% male flowers, then the plant is not considered a hermie, or considered to have those traits.. Is this a common practice with breeders to use that formula so to speak?

I'd stop using that breeder if that was their response to you.
Was thinking same thing.. Have grown their genetics for a while now, never a prob with hermies. It just really shocked me as to their response.
Said that particular strain i was referencing was an Asian landrace sativa and they're likely to hermie late in flower.
They have some truly wonderful strains, never had a seed that didn't pop or finish out right. Never had a order not show up, they use stealth delivery.
Just would never have expected that from them. I mean 1 hermie can screw a whole crop.

Is it a hermaphrodite with both an X and Y chromosomes? If it has just a few male flowers then it is probably a female that threw some male flowers for whatever reason. Sativas are more likely to do that. Landrace sativas even more so. To me a hermaphrodite has both X and Y chromosomes and will show over the entire plant. A plant that shows some male flowers is not necessarily a hermaphrodite. You can pick off the pollen sacks or use a reverse spray.

She started showing a few nannas the last wk or so of flowering.. No seeds just a few nannas in random buds.
Thanx for the info, i went ahead and chopped as she was close to finish.. Everything seems fine with the bud, looks, smell. Just those nannas kind of shocked me.
