So many factors go into kick starting clones, but finally we're on track with the 2 in the LED tent. I am posting a pic of the same clones from my HOT5 tent. Hard to imagine they were all taken from the same plant at the same time. One might conclude that HOT5s kick LEDs ass, but no. The 2 big-ass clones simply grew so fast in the cloner that the other 2 were not getting much light. Combine that with the grow method of watering from the top vs DWC from the bottom. It took awhile for the roots to break through the 5" depth of net pot rock. All tolled, these two had a lot going against them, but here they are, and we should see good things from now on. I will cut light from 18/6 to 14/10 soon; I probably should have left the HOT5 clones at 14/10 a week longer, but yesterday was 93*, that room hit 90*+, so in this climate, sooner is better

Based on observation/data SDS has posted regarding main stalk under WW (thin) vs 6-7K (thicker), I swapped out the 2 @ 7w WW leds for 7.5w NW leds, as I am seeing similar result. Also my secondary branching, for the most part, is very short

Plants responding nicely to adding blue. Trimmed roots that wre hanging or about to in the nutes. I do this so more roots will develop. The more roots the bigger the plant and buds

One plant the secondary branching is finally in gear. 3 are already longer than 4"

Maximum output for the other colors are: 109 lm for blue, 253 lm for green, 203 lm for amber, 193 lm for red-orange, and 155 lm for red. The data sheet specs 45.7, 122, 80.6, 93.9, and 73.9 lm, respectively, at 350 mA drive current and 1A operation.

Update

Here are my DWC Bubble roots before trimming the tips. Doing so causes more roots to develop and exit through the lava rock, leading to a more robust plant.

Finally have mature 5 blade leafs, so thinking it's time to reduce light cycle to 14/10

Thoughts?

I should have started trimming sooner, but there were reasons, if you read through this thread you will see.

It should be obvious that the plant on the right has the bigger root mass

What are you currently using to hold your bulbs up? I am looking into making something similiar.

Good question. I am using double wire ties. Available on a 60ft roll or by 12" pieces. I will never use the roll, so I bought a pack of 12" sections

Since plants are taller now (smaller is 7" from first node, taller is 13"), I decided to add an extender and splitter to the middle socket so I can start getting supplemental light below the canopy

One is WW (aimed at shorter plant, hopefully to increase stretch), the other is NW, cause that's what I had, plus I want to see whether the NW slows down the taller

Been trimming roots every other day. Plants look very good, certainly no worse for wear

Yeah, I neglected to do the jar photo op

The primary leafs have now doubled in size, looking very Indica, but new leafs will flip to Sat soon

The BrandX WWxWH is awesome. Smooth, hashy taste. Just a pinch lasts me a couple hours. Excellent up-high good for interacting, contemplating, creating

Trimmed again this morning

Apparent now that new roots are breaking through bottom of net pots. The next week should prove rather interesting for both root an plant growth

Very nice... Ever since I saw Dawg trimming his party-cup roots, I've been enamored with this method.
But at what point do you stop?
For example, on your plants, did you decide where to cut based on length of roots or volume of root-mass?

Like most of the stuff I do, it's experimental.

As I mentioned, I should have started root trimming much earlier in veg, but was finishing up their mother while these were being crowded out by their 2 sisters in the cloner.

Those 2 are budding out nicely under my HOT5, using Halo Drip Rings in spray mode (awesome set up). Amazing how much they have fattened up since getting the ac fixed on their side of the house.

What I failed to do was wait until I had mature 3-5 blade leafs before going 12/12. They barely grew. Pics tomorrow

I cut light back to 12/12 this morning, so probably have 5-7 more days of root trimming.

My spidy-sense tells me, not to continue during flower
