LED'ing Autoflowers with Spectrum Control

I have LED lights with spectrum control, and have the ability to run either the blue or red, depending on growth stage. I know plants love the red spectrums when budding but question is this. With the uniqueness of the auto and how it keeps growing and doesnt need shortened light etc, I was wondering, does anyone have experience with spectrums? I want to bring the most out of some very healthy Ice autos that are in their fourth week. Right now I run the entire light with all spectrums, figuring it will pick from the light what it needs. Does anyone think the plant mght get a little extra out of it if I run the red strictly the last two weeks or so? Or should I run the entire thing and go under the assumption that if all the colors in the spectrum are there, it will just grab and take what it needs, as it needs...

I have no, none, zero, null, náid, żaden, etc. experience with LEDs, but I do have some with autos under HIDs....I had great results using the blue spectrum (MH in my case) for the first 3.5 - 4.5 weeks, then switching to the red spectrum (HPS for me) for the remainder of the grow (on a 20/4 schedule).....But then again, folks that use CFLs use a mix throughout....more blue (6500k)during the quick veg period & more red (2700k) during the flower stage...I'm sure if you hunt around here or just wait a bit, you will find a more definitive answer....I'm just throwing this out in the hopes that it helps a little....

Good Luck With Your Grow!!

Myself, I give the whole spectrum through flowering. I try to bring the outdoors inside, so to speak.

So, as I enter an autoflower flowering period, would running the full spectrum be any different than just the red spectrum? I want fat nugs, and the plants have grown to a nice size. I dont want to give it blue spectrum lighting during the flowering period if it "distracts" the plant at all.

There is no final word on this issue. IMHO and that of many using LEDs the full spectrum makes for denser nugs with better trich coverage. The only time cutting out the blue may make sense is when you are flipping a non-auto strain. I do not believe the blue will distract the plant anymore than sunlight

I've heard a lot of people say that red only produces larger, better buds. I switched mine to red only for the first 3 weeks and didn't notice anything different; a little slower if anything. I switched it back to both and haven't looked back. It helps get more light to the lower nodes. I'm not turning off the red, they are still there...simply adding an additional spectrum(s) and more light.

I'm growing autoflowers under led only, have been for a minute now. Using switchable spectrum led panels. Check my journal, its in my sig. I use the veg only spectrum for the first two weeks, then go full illumination, then flower only the last two weeks. Yielded over 5 oz off four plants in 65 days. The quality was great.
