LED strips in 2024, Help needed selecting best parts for first DIY

Good advice, I will only use as last resort.
I wonder if 3mm flat aluminium will do enough to heat sink these bad boys?
Or perhaps angle/T section without the fancy speed fittings.

One thing I don't quite understand is what wattage they are. How would you go about running them at 70w as opposed to 50w
I used flat on my build, scraps from cnc machining. About 4mm x 100mm wide. I'll take temp measurements later today.

Other places to look are machining, metal fabrication and welding shops. And scrap metal places, they save good stuff from manufacturing and construction etc.

For one strip? As long as you got a lip it should be ok. My advice was that sinking with same size flat alu is probably insufficient.

Yes, 1 strip per 3 x 90 x 480mm flat. A 5 x 75mm spar connects them. It's just what I had on hand, didn't buy a thing other than strips. Any flat certainly needs to wider than the strip or it adds no surface area.

Temp readings and DC power at the strip, circulation and exhaust fans running. I may take more measurements later. It smells SO good! :weed:

32.3 @ 29.7w.
33.5 @ 33.1w.
36.5 @ 38.2w.

After some thought I may just switch to a 4x 250w 420 quantum board setup . The cost is pretty much the same and will result in allot less work to set the things up. Having 4 I can spread them out and put a slight tilt towards the centre of the tend for a good penetration level

have to mention, myaluprofil.de is a good source. ordered my stuff there too.
was very reasonable priced, a custom frame was just a few 10€ with 2020 profile.

Update! I've nearly finished my build. Gone with 400w square 1mx1m to go in my 4ft with a central LEC 315 CMH . Each bar is slightly angled in away from tent walls .
Also built 2x 400w bar lights to go in my 5ft
