2. Watts - 5 watt chips do offer more penetration but they are much more expensive. They also require larger heat sinks further driving up the production costs.

a. The most efficient indoor style of grow is Sea of Green or Screen of Green. Since the canopy is so even and lush the lights do not need penetration and can be kept very close so that light is not wasted. 3 watt chips are most adequate for this.
I don't believe Mars II actually has 5 w chips.... they claim to use epistar which I am aware only makes 5w chips in IR. Most of the Epistar chips max out a 700mA which would mean at max they are running just under 3w.

I am not in China, but I did just get back from vacation to Canada.

They use Epistar and some other brand perhaps the 5w chips are of another brand. I guess the 200 MOQ could only be shipped to 1 person but they said they would talk to their engineers about improving their lights although I've yet to hear back from them.

I am kinda believing that they are getting 1g/watt. While no one has completed a grow journal on rollitup there are plenty on other forums unless someone can show me wrong. Albeit, as discussed, I certainly don't think that makes it the "best" light.
