Led panel diffuser

Has anybody ever used a higher wattage LED than necessarily needed, but used a diffuser to gain more coverage. I am trying it this year. I have a 2X4X4 that I will scrog under a 1000 watt "amazon" led equipped with a acrylic diffuser in place of the glass.

I understand it as 100 chips at 5w per. 500 is what I was expecting. It's a small grow, 2x4x4. I weave through a scrog. I've done well over the past few years with 280w of actual used power from cfl's and am looking forward to the new punch of light.

i would guess it is probably 150-250W, and would yield similar to the cfl rig

you'd have to measure it at the wall. it might also have amp draw listed on the ficture (which may or may not be accurate). you kinda need to know how many watts youre dealing with to use it most efficiently

I think, you are inspired by the idea that diffuse light can increase penetration and yield by around 8-10% in greenhouses.

But if you get a 92% transparent diffuser, which is BTW hard to find and means you lost 8% of the light, and you increase your yield by a slight 8-10% marge you will probably end up with ± 0.

But you can get diffuse light also with a lot of small light sources, like QuantumBoards or midpower LED strips offer. This way you get full benefits from diffuse light but no losses from using a diffuser sheet.
Strips are perfect when it comes to distributing the light as evenly as possible.
For instance, 20 F-series strips would be 1440 light sources!
With 240w driver and aluminum channel ~300-350$.

Use greenhouse panels, the best Ive found by research seems to be Solexx. My plan is to use 1440pc 5630 diodes in a 2x2 with a Solexx panel flexed just above the plant. This was my plan some time ago, but the budget isnt right at the moment. Will have 20 strips tuesday, powersupply on way, just need channel and solexx.

I got the channel to thermo adher to aluminum sheet, that way each strip is removable and replaced incase of failure. 70,000 lumens to use, 300watt
