LED Lights any good?

I would like to try using LED for my flowering plants but not sure what I need at a minimum for lights. Are they effective? My room just won’t allow for HPS for heat reasons so I have been using fluorescents. I have about 17sf and 9 plants. Any info would be great. Thanks

i have yet to see a good LED setup that can give the plant everything it needs. every plant ive seen grown from LED is scrawny and stretched.

From my understanding and intensive research on LEDs, which is something I have been looking into for a while I have found out the following. Most Led panels come in a 1 foot square configuration, so you would need around 17 of them. Also the best and really the only way to use them effectively at this point IMO is as supplemental lighting. Has anyone seen a full grow using LEDs? Has anyone seen a "good" grow using LEDs?

Also I noticed that you really have to read the fine print on some of those LEDs, I saw one on Ebay looked nice and cheap, something I could experiment with and as I read I noticed that in small print it said that the lights must be 7 feet above the canopy, 7 feet is useless to me. Also LEDs can sunburn plants badly, so do a lot of research before you buy some.

Go to the led forum section, there you won't be seeing "scrony" or "stretchy" plants. You will sw honest growers getti g great results with some fire dank!
One thing I will say is, LEDs are expensive, you get what u payed for.

We are using a 600 Watt LED as a test for a lighting manufacturer for the last year in one of our grow rooms.

I like how they use less energy and the lights are cool and don't create a lot of heat, but on the 600 in flowering, it takes two weeks longer for plants to finish. The LEDs use 400 watts instead of their output of 600 watts - so thats good.

The plants are not as big at all, as when you use a regular 1000 watt. I want huge plants and 1000 watt regular lights will do that!

Don't waste your money. They have broke twice in the last year, though we got parts right away to fix it.

LEDs also put out radio waves - not good for people and wouldn't imagine they are good for plants.

New gadgets are created all the time and I find that if it ain't broke don't fix it! 1000 Watts are amazing for flowing. Just get a vented hood and fan and keep the heat away.

I have seen 1000 watt LEDs mixed with 1000 watt Halogen at another professional warehouse and I noticied no difference.

Hope that helps!
