Or you can grow in a vertical system multiplying your floor space....no, u can dbl it with a light mover
So for 90w of power and a $350 investment you got 9 grams of bud from one plant? A wise investment indeed! A couple of 23w CFL's wouldve done better for like $12.For the personal use growers:
My 2 yo UFO 90: consisting of only a mix of R/B spectrums ($350) is a dinosaur by today's standards, and yet here is a photo of an AF Low Ryder #2 X Bubble that I completely flowered under it in April. It was not finished in a very reflective environment either, but still left me with 9gms of dry buds.
One can grow 2-3 short plants under it no problem. That said, I would not go with a round fixture, and would get a minimum of 150 watts for 3-4 small (< 20") plants.
Current units from intelligent mfgs significantly up the ante by moving to 3W diodes (not 3 @ 1 watt on a chip) and incorporating more spectrums. Green (~ 5000K) was overlooked until recently, but is essential to chlorophyll production. These lights should increase yield and shorten grow times

My biggest issue is the cost to cover a 2 X 4 area, and that most LEDs are still deficient when it comes to covering more of the entire color spectrum. My Quantum Bad Boy T 5 HO- 8 bulb (~ 400w) does at $350 including 16 bulbs. I can buy a variety of HO K bulbs- 2900, 4000, 5000, 6500, even 10,000 and pop them in out as needed, or just leave the mix in throughout. hth
Obviously you don't know how to read as i'm not for LED's nub, read again or go back to school.......dam Jdub you're pushin' like ya own a LED company .... LED or HID use what ya can, to make best use of your space. if a grower wants to run a certain type of lighting then its his choice, aint no one gonna run their ass's out and buy a LED cause ya think its best. it is gonna take a major amount of people getting huge result with LED's on a consistent, regular basis for the hard core HID guys to switch.
1k hps covers a 4x4 trey just fine. It's not hard to yield 1.5lbs with that. That's not even a G per watt. Is there an LED you can use to yield more over that space? As far as I'm aware, the answer is no.
Cause they know they aren't worth a crap...

I run my 1k year round without a heater or AC in my tent. I live in the PNW
Dub
Best case scenario you can get a gram per watt.... That's 2 lbs per 1k.

Power isnt a issue in grows of our size or smaller. You would have to run a 600 watt equivelent LED for a couple years to offset the costs. And the performance of those LED aren't there yet to even justiy it. My grow with a 1k and all the accessories, chiller, dehumidifier, etc costs maybe $60 a month.... What's $60 a month when I can do 20-24 oz every 70 days? To outfit my tent for LED it would cost $3k to get the lumens that the 1k light puts out. Shit man, you would have to run your grow about 5 years plus 20 harvests to offset the costs. And the performance still isn't comparable... Pretty stupid if you ask me....

This is what I said earlier... LED's will never hit the price to performance ratio that it needs to be in order to be a option. Plasma lighting will be the next biggest thing.
Ask yourself this, The largest Cannabis market right now is SoCal. Look at the biggest online and storefront hydro supplier companies in that area. You won't find a single
LED light on their site. My good friend owns one of those companies and he knows the products, industry and hobby more than anyone.

Ohhh, and here's my first post in the thread, fukin nubsI know some of the biggest online and retail hydro store owners in the business. I sat down with him a few months back and he ranted and raved why LEDs will never make it.
The cost to performance ratio will never get to a point that it will be worth it. High wattage small LED bulbs have to come down significantly and he doesn't see that happening until it's too late.
By then Plasma lighting will be the next big thing, give it about 10 more years, maybe less

Ummmm, one more for that ass? Fresh off the boat goodness FTLYah man, just get some t5's for veg and a HPS for flower. $1100 and I could outfit a 3k watt grow and have a whole veg room with T5's
LED's cost to performance ratio is horrible.
HAHAHA, tell me about it, Nubs should engage their brain before they postLook at you all getting hysterical over LED's...
That comment included you my friend....HAHAHA, tell me about it, Nubs should engage their brain before they post
Dub
I don't think so nub, Read the thread. Stupid fucks need not to post stupid shitThat comment included you my friend....
Oh, and if defending myself from pure ignorant comments that had absolutely no merrit is getting hysterical then I'm hysterical alright.....That comment included you my friend....
You're the only one on here still yacking thinking you have to defend yourself and reducing others opinions to ignorance.......Oh, and if defending myself from pure ignorant comments that had absolutely no merrit is getting hysterical then I'm hysterical alright.....
Wow, can you spell "tool"?You're the only one on here still yacking thinking you have to defend yourself and reducing others opinions to ignorance.......
PS. it's merit...not merrit!!
