Hey guys I'm looking to start a new tent and want to give led a try. I have an hps and a cfl tent and now I want to experiment with a led tent. Problem is I do t know the first thing about LEDs. Can anybody tell me which light they think is better between the two. Btw cost is a problem here so please no recommending name brand $500+ lights.

Neither, but between these choices some growers are having success with the LEDGrowLight

For how long, who knows?

There are a few DIY threads if you are handy

A new comer is innoled, they make their own nano particle cobs

I think their 120 is within reach of your budget

PSUAGRO is working with it now

Both of those lights look perfectly fine to me. I have 600w worth of chinese LEDs and ive found them to be very effective. Important thigns to consider are the spectrum and wattage of the bulbs, 3w or 5w bulbs are the best anythign lower does not have enough canopy penetration to be effective. The fuller the spectrum the better the growth, All my lights are 7 spectrum lights with more focus in reds then there is in blues and whites, this provides the best results in my opinion as the Red spectrum is very important for flowering and getting good yields, but plants needs diffeernt spectrums of light for there various chemical proccess except for green light, im not a fan of full spectrum units because there is wasted energy in spectrums the plants arent using, so i recomen 7 or 9 spectrum lights although full spectrum will produce good results as well if its a good quality unit.

Fuck LED, too much money for the puny results. Better of with VHO/HO/CFL/HPS/MH/Candle's anything else. Trust me, I have used all.

another thign to be careful of is "white" leds as sellers will advertise units with white LEDs as full spectrum although the LED they are using might only be creating white light with only the spectrums needed for it to look white and not "daylight white" which is a full spectrum of light that loosk white

if you havent bought a LED unit that produced results you were happy with why woudl i buy it when ive been buyign lights that are effective? if i had to guess id say ur unit is an older model LED with only 2 or 3 spectrums and would probably give piss poor results. correct me if im wrong

EDIT

Another point id liek to make is the unlike with HPS or MH lights wattage isnt the only number to consider. LEDs have a poor coverage area so multiple units are needed if you are trying to grow more plants or light a bigger space, on average 4 plants in 3g or 5g containers is the most you want to have under any single LED unit regardless of what wattage it is. As an avid LED enthusiast i recomend 1 240-300w unit for every 4 plants or 2'x2' area your trying to light to get best results

I have a 2x2.5 led grow tent. I use Kessil Led lights. The price range is between $100-$250 per light. LED lights are expensive! They are worth it, because they last damn near forever, put out next to no heat, don't require hoods or ballast, and they are energy efficient! The bud is always dense, dank, and sticky. However, despite quality, yields do not comapare to that of an HPS light.
