Hi everyone,

Looking to buy LED for a small grow tent & thought it might be useful to start a thread for anyone to write what comes to mind that may help new buyers. Topics might include;

- What LED your using.
- Any questions you have.
- Manufacturers.
- What to look for...spectrum, wattage, coverage.
- Recommendations & criticisms.
- LED for veg, flower or both.
- Prices.
- Comparison to hps/mh.
- The future of LED.

I'm micro and stealth and I'm using the same kind of chinese LED used by the solutions you posted above, 66w total.
I'm just not using that old red/blue spectrum, only white light.
Still the heat is an issue if you want keep it silent and smell free.
So I will start some test with COD led, increase the efficiency is the only way for me

I just read the DIY threads over and over til I felt confident to DIMS. It is actually pretty easy and you can have a primo light. I felt intimidated at first but these LED guy's can get you through it if you want. I have a Hans 80w and Solar flare 200 bloom booster, Hans will Veg and bloom good and the solar flare Blooms pretty good. A Cree cob would be best IMO. There are way too many junk lights out there ( compared to DIY) . Good luck on whatever you end up with or do.

The best and proven small led panels for very small scale growers are:

I only have experience with the hans 65w panel, but have seen great results from all of them to warrant a place on the list.

1gpw is attainable with keeping the plants short and using indica doms

also on the induction side the indagro par 100 when using 660nm supplementation can achieve some great #'s from my own experience as well

http://www.inda-gro.com/products.html it's dead quiet, last long and has repeatable results for years due to low lumen depreciation. It is a viable option for the small scale grower IMO.

100w with 12 plants underneath it right now, 1/2g grow bags, each plant is about 12" tall maybe more towards 16" but they are slouchin over now.
I also have the 300w version with 5 foot monsters under her ;)

looking good...but how did you manage to get the newer Vipar 5w cause on their website its only the 3w & not 5w? Not sure this makes much difference because seemingly larger diodes cannot be too close together due to heat dissipation, the result is less density for the lights which isn't ideal for small spaces. Vipar sound legit & respected so your 5w is probably worth it & im keen to find out more. I've been looking at a Chinese company 'top led grow light' after reading great reviews from the grass city forum...& what I find strange is that they're a lot cheaper than others like Vipar...we're talking 40-50% cheaper! If grasscity are correct & their LED are good how can they produce them so cheap in comparison? all this shit makes it so confusing when it comes to LED 8).

Check out viparusa on ebay, someone on here emailed vipar uk a while ago and they confirmed affiliation with viparusa as a distributor and they have a lot more models, cheaper. Ill throw up pics of the nugs in the morning when my lights go on. Crazy dense.

those LED seem ideal for very small spaces...lets say I wanted to cover 3'x3' though, I could use a number of smaller LED to cover this range rather than one big one. I read that multiple smaller LEDs are better but would rather keep it simple with one, unless of course the difference is substantial, which it isn't as far as I know.

A 12" BML Light bar (passively cooled) starts at $120 and can be configured anyway you want it/them

They can be mounted horizontally or vertically

and can be positioned very close to the plants (<6")

Use high quality Osram diodes and Meanwell drivers
