Goud, interesting for room lighting. Not so sure for plants though. I bought 2 Utilitech Day Light 7.5w bulbs (with diffuser/globe) from Lowes. It looks more like cool white, which is fine. Using it in my vanity fixture + one ~ 3w ww led (no globe/lens) to provide spectrums missing from my UFO 90 (1w); R:B 9:1, which is probably ~ 50w. So total w ~ 60

This tent is NOT my main grow, which is under 432w HO T5 using proper balance of aquarium bulbs. It has oregano + basil + 2 runts/8 plants from my F1 cross.

Under this light combination the 2 runts are now almost as tall as the 2 strongest, plus has more & bigger secondary leaf sets. The pic is now 5 days old; the 2 plants ~ 40% bigger

what is the purpose of this post? it doesnt go along with anything being discussed, nor do you explain why you are posting this. thanks for the commercial about lighting my house. do you use them to grow? if so, how do you use them? how many do you use? what are you growing?

i am sure they are excellent to light my family room, but for growing plants...not so sure--please tell me what the purpose of this post is?

Removing globes: Some yes, some no. I was Youtubing leds and came across a bulb with a screw off globe. I went to the site www.chinabuye.com and although I did not find the screw o/o globe types, I did find a wide K variety of no globe low watt (3-5) leds at very affordable prices + free shipping. ~ 3 bulbs for the price of one 7.5w Utilitech at Lowes, so I bought $60 worth then found 2 @3 bulb vanity fixtures at Salvation Army @ $8. If the bulbs get here in time, I will add them to these and move a couple plants form the T5s to this tent

No matter what type of light you use mmj requires fairly specific spectral balance (different for Indicas & Sats) before they will reward you. Seems I got lucky (some spectral awareness involved) with this mix.

One could make a couple DIY 6-8 bulb light bars using 1 X 4 trim wood + these screw in leds and cover a 2 X 4 tent for ~ $150- that's half the price of 2 @ 4 bulb HO fixtures, not including aquarium bulbs. Obviously leds will last ~ 5-10 times longer + no mercury, so looks good for an led future for me

Anyone want to help me w/ choosing?

looking between a51 (240) , advanced LED (either the 10w cree 350 or a 300w diamond), progrow (hydrohut X5), and lumigrow (ES330).

I thought i was set on progrow but saw the thread with issues and am thrown off. Thoughts?

I think Area 51 is the most reasonably priced, + the lifetime warranty. Also check out California Lightworks. I'm using the Solarstorm 400. Sign-up for their growers feedback program and get it half off.

Guod

A creature from the regions of the northwest suburbs of Chicago. One of the main ways to spot a Guod is by the involuntary facial movements the creature exhibits. The movements are set in a pattern. First, the head shakes slightly side to side. Next, the head nods up and down. He repeats these motions a few times before the final step. The last step is where the Guod juts his head forward and moves his head from left to right. He then repeats all the steps. He does these movements most of the time: while running, driving, sitting in class, etc. Nobody knows if the Guod does this in his sleep, nobody except his mother (who will be defined at a later time, in a different definition)
The nature of the Guod is mysterious. He walks in ways that simply boggle one's mind. He often sits alone brooding on his thoughts, all the time his face moving. What he thinks about is a mystery. Nobody dare pick his brain for fear of retardation.
Of course this definition of a Guod is simply inadequate because nobody really knows all about the Guod. Hopefully we will come to understand him better.

welcome

You are better off using 2x square panels as opposed to one, more light, even spread and versatility. So each panel covers a sq 2.5ft each. lumigrow is expensive and you would only get one panel for your money, rhino is a great piece of kit but is still unproven as yet. Area51 has the 135 at $565 ea which covers 2.5-3sq ft effective coverage drawing 266W.

I'm always aware of how everyone votes for their own choices to put forward but I have to say, few panels out there beat area51. Great service, great finished product, nice configuration and the choice of components are top quality. Lifetime warranty which no one else has, US based. And 3 weeks in and I am stoked by what I have seen. I also have experience with multiple HID's, a progrow 550 so can certainly hold these up to scrutiny.

i dont doubt that area 51 leds are qaulity but its silly to think that some new start up business can offer a true lifetime warranty its purely a marketing ploy just sounds good on paper but theres a reason no other companies offer it because it cant be done, at least not in a cost effective manner that could sustain a business.

I suppose time will tell, only then can anyone say whether it was a marketing ploy or not. Lifetime meaning the lifetime of the diodes presumably. So ten years about. Besides I have known of many young companies that offer lifetime warranties. Either way it is better than the stated 3 years from most.

Maybe if you read the warranty page, you'd have a better grasp on the actual warranty, instead of just stating it is a "marketing ploy" without having a clue what you're talking about.

I am currently growing with the AF-600 and I can guarantee you this company will be around for a long time. Not to mention FERO would not be doing business with AREA 51 if their intention was to hit and run.

My tent broke, and my Area 51 AF-240 fell 6 feet from the roof of my tent, and didn't miss a beat. Every diode still works, there's not even a god damn mark on the case.

Quality? You don't have to work about that one, they've got that shit on lock down.

Helixeon LED's are hella bright too!
